So I am still toying with the idea of increasing V8 sound on my S4 and wanted some opinions about how loud and potentially droney, intrusive the Non resonated Miltek exhaust would be? I have an auto car, which i am told makes the exhaust drone a bit, is this the case and if so how bad is it? Also how much louder is the non resonated exhaust than standard?

Lastly does anyone know if the exhaust would invalidate my Audi warranty, the main dealer I bought from said it wouldn't, but thought i'd double check!

thanks

Can't help directly, but...

I had a B6 S4 cab auto that I fitted a resonated Miltek to, thinking quieter would be better in the long term to live with.

Droning wasn't a problem, but boom ones was. It produced a loud dull noise at around 2000-2500 rpm - I think - whatever rpm it was was *precisely* the engine speed the car would sit around when driving in urban traffic in the standard (non sport) gearbox setting.

It drove me mad and was the main reason I sold the car.

When I booted it the sound was brilliant, but hours of irritation outweighed seconds of smiling.

ok thanks for this, really want to bring out the V8 sound of my S4, without it becoming chavvy or annoying inside the car!

I'm going thought the exact same thing at the moment and I can make my mind up. My latest thinking is going fior none res and hoping for the best. It's only a weekend toy so it won't be used all the time so that's my latest. My SLK 55 sounded awesome when I had that done so fingers crossed. Where are you thinking of buying from PPCGB look the cheapest with an online 5% discount code I've found.

I don't like the non-resonated system on the V8. It loses a lot of the finesse and replaces it with loud. I find it quite a harsh, blaring sort of a noise.

The resonated system keeps the nice changes in character you hear with the standard system but turns the volume up nicely, particularly under wide open throttle. On cold start and when cruising around it doesn't drone, rasp or feel intrusive. It won't upset your neighbours but will make you smile when pressing on.

Thanks for the replies, I think the Resonated is sounding good then, AMD did warn me it might drone at idle, low speeds with an auto box, and i like the rich sounds the standard has but just want louder, but not blaring chavvy style, it's my daily driver so need it useable, my 996 turbo provides my weekend toy thrills! smile

I had a resonated Milltek cat back system fitted to my RS4 & to my the R32 I had before that. Both boomed at around 2000 rpm which was made worse when the valves were opened in S mode. It's not to bad as the stock one did the same to a certain extent.

Does the B7 S4 have valves on the back boxes?

If you had your R32, would you change to a Milltek again or stay OEM? I ideally would like OEM, but with better tips

Is the new Milltek valve sonic system compatible?

That sounds expensive can't see fitting being anymore than £50

I'm down in Somerset so a bit of a drive from Essex. But I'll give you my views once fitted

Maybe at a tyre place but on an 8 year old car fitting an exhaust in 50 quid worth of time is wishful thinking. 2 hours of labour is more realistic.

I got my non res miltek fitted to my S4 on Saturday just gone and it cost me £50 for fitting

It sounds awesome smile

I had some old chap in a Nissan Qashqai pull up next to me at some lights Saturday evening, he gave me the thumbs to put my window down, he said he's just been following behind me and it sounds amazing, that made my day haha

Fitted my Milltek none res today took about 45mins so those charging 2 hrs plus need to look at themselves in the mirror.

The standard Audi system is total junk can't believe they fit this exhaust it's so restrictive with 2 big crush points to fit around the chassis very very disappointed. The Milltek is great quality fits very well and was supplied with top quality clamps I'm well happy, sound wise I'm glad I went for none res as compared to my 55Amg its not that loud, resonated must be a disappointment if your expecting great V8 noise.
