Thanks. I'm moving house and at the moment I'm not sure exactly how wide my new garage is. I don't think it'll open out a lot once through the door either.

If I get one I might have to leave it parked on the drive.

The mirrors aren't as far out as they are other cars relative to the rear arches, which makes reversing into a garage difficult as it looks like it won't fit when you look through the mirror (if that makes sense at all?)

Apologies for the bump, but did the OP buy one and get it in a single garage?

I have just had to cancel a purchase of a V10 as I couldn't be certain it would fit in my garage.

My single garage is 2.8m wide, I have ascertained it can get through the door...just, it's now whether I can get out!!!

Not a scientific or particularly relevant response (sorry!) but as a fatty I was also concerned about the width/door length and me getting in and out in car spaces (not a garage though).

I've honestly had no issues. It feels easier than the Evoque I had before. And cars have grown and grown so much I honestly don't think it feels a wide car.

I'm referencing the gen1. Perhaps the gen2 is wider. Can you not borrow one to test?

Gen 1 is the car in question yes.

I am powerfully built, so similar to you.

I can get out of our golf in the garage ok, but the doors are that much longer in the R8 that it cost me a beautiful V10 as I couldn't guarantee it would fit in the garage, and it cant stay outside.

I was in the same position when looking for my R8, new build single garage 2.8m. I go in at a slight angle and can get in and out easily enough.

You’re brave going in forward!

I was thinking reversing in would be easier as you’d get a clear view down both sides?

You’ve given me hope now damn you...

I've tried reversing in but the issue for me is that the mirrors on the plus are not electric, so have to be folded first in order to get though the door frame.

Blind spot mirrors at the back and sides of the garage wouldn't be a bad idea so you could actually see the sides and front of car as you go in.

Ah! That explains it!

The blind spot mirrors are a good shout also actually.

It’s going to be very tight, but...the dream is still alive!

I might add the reversing camera is pretty good for placing the car. I'm not the best at parking, but find it quite easy with the R8 to judge the corners with a combination of the mirrors and camera.

Not R8 specific, but my S8 went in a single garage. I always drove in front first and used to get it where I thought it needed to be, climb out and DOUBLE CHECK it's not going to clobber the frame on the door, adjust to get it as straight as poss, then don't mess with the steering as you shuffle in.

Watch out for coins sticking out half way down the garage (row of bricks exactly where you'd want to open the door!) - with my car that meant climbing out before the car was fully in and pushing it in the last bit. Removal was silly - involving the remote to wind the windows down, a decorators extending pole to press the brake pedal down and get it into neutral, then dragging it out by the bootlid......

Single garage openings will generally be wide enough with the mirrors folded in to start with - the challenge is whether there's enough width inside the frame to get the door open. I wouldn't be keen trying to thread it over to one side of the garage - if it won't go in straight with minimal clearance on the passenger side, allowing you to get out, there's just far too high a chance of doing damage.

Much as I love my o,us, I’d have been far happier if it had 30kg more and a proper battery, fuel tank, and folding mirrors.
