I'm about to choose my next lease car. I've got 2 quotes to hand, one for the A6 at about £380 /month, and one for the Passat at £330/month. These are all inclusive rates (maintenance, insurance, etc), and also take into account BIK with my own monthly contribution factored in. So there is only £50/month difference from the Passat to the A6. Over the 3 years, that's around £1800.

I had an A6 until 2012, so I know the car, and assume it's not changed much with the latest version. However, I've also driven the Passat, and it feels well built and decent to drive (it was only a 10 minute drive in a mate's car - so not pushed in any way). It may be a daft question to some, but is it worth the extra £50 a month for the A6?

In terms of spec, there's not much in it. The Passat has adaptive cruise, which is nice to have, and also is the DSG version. It also has a "connected" nav system for 3 years. Obviously the A6 comes with leather seats, rather than the SE Business' cloth. But they're not heated as standard, and will be freezing in a Scottish winter.

Happy to hear thoughts - even if these include telling me it's obviously the A6 to go for!

Did you have the old C6 Audi or the new C7 one? They're very different cars.

Audi's 187 BHP vs 120 for the Passat : I think I know which way I'd lean.

Heated steering wheel available as an option for both. I'd want that in Scotland! smile

It was the C7 I had. As I said, I liked the car - though it was naff in all the snow we had one year.

I appreciate that the engines are very different, with the Audi clearly on top. But in terms of spec, and drive, it seems much closer. I don't do a lot of miles - around 12k a year, and mostly on A roads rather than motorway, but I do like my comfort!

If you like your comfort then do not buy a Passat, i am currently trading mine in for an A6 as it is by far more comfortable.

Isn't the Passet available with a 2.0TDi and still cheaper to lease than the A6?
