I drive a 3 door S3 hatchback and find the boot space just shy for my needs. 95% of my motoring is done with only me in the car but I need to carry some boxed items on my daily journeys.

The rear seats fold down (obviously) but I'd rather keep them up, but the thing is that the angle they sit at compromises my boot space.

So my question is, is there an extension bracket of sorts that I could hook onto the anchor points on the car and then into the rear seat 'locks' that would allow the seat to stay at an angle closer to 90 degrees rather that have them in the normal sloped-back position?

Or am I looking at trying to make something myself? scratchchin

Thanks (and I'm not selling the car!)

No, but making such a thing wouldn't be hard. I'd just be worried about them rattling!

Any decent man in the shed type fabricator could knock something up I'm sure.

Thanks. Yes I was thinking it shouldn't be too difficult, but I take your point about the rattles - I'm OCD enough about squeaks and rattles which was part of the reason for not wanting to drive around with the seats folded flat in the first place - that and my boxes sliding all over the place.

If anyone's previously come up with a solution, I'm all ears...

Might be worth looking at a lupo/arosa,
My mum has an arosa and it has 2 position clips to hold the rear seats in a more upright position when you need more boot space.

Thank you.

I've had a few moments today as to how best to construct it. I'll have a look at an Arosa - see if that helps.

Well, after much thought and deliberation... Ta-Da!!

Really pleased, almost doubles my boot capacity. And not a rattle anywhere. bounce

(...and a big thanks to my next door neighbour for powder coating them for me. Top guy.)

Thank you.

But to be honest, not THAT good.

I was wandering around B&Q on Sunday desperately looking for something that I could adapt to suit my needs. Nada. Nothing.

Two whole hours looking through every nook and cranny of every department - picking up 'stuff' and wondering if it could possibly be adapted / how much work involved / skill levels required to complete said work.... and was on the way out the door feeling pretty dejected that my usual levels of inspiration had deserted me.

And then it hit me! There were literally thousands EVERYWHERE! In EVERY department right across the whole store - EVERYWHERE! You couldn't NOT see them unless you were blindfolded.

The bloody hooks that EVERYTHING hangs from. I have some slatwall in my workshop and a box of assorted hooks bought a gazillion years ago - one angle grinder, one vice, a bloody big hammer and an hour later - et viola!

Never give up! laugh
