I had one for a weekend when I was car shopping a few months back, good package and the engine/drivetrain is strong, but overall I think it is getting a little long in the tooth. the one I had was on standard springs and the ride was ok but no match for the Discovery but I've heard the air suspension car is better. Depends what you want, I like them but couldn't bring myself to buy one but I always admire them on the road, one of those cars i almost bought.

I've got one on order - 262 Rline, with Dynamic CDC suspension - I drove two back to back, one with steel springs & one without. The air is worth having & makes a big difference to the car(imo). VW tell me it's left the factory & I should have it around the end of the month. We ordered via a broker - local dealer wouldn't / couldn't get close to the pricing available through a broker - makes the car seriously good value for money compared to what else is out there.

What sort of discounts are we talking about?

On the Rline with metallic paint, Dynamic CDC & Rear privacy glass it was around 23% via drive the deal. You can also get a cheaper service pack (2 for £300) added on which we will take.

That does look attractive, very tempting, have you ordered one then?

Unfortunately the timescales don't work for me. If we could fast forward 6 months I'd order one today. Only thing it lacks that I'd have liked it Active Cruise Control, but I guess I could live without it.

Thought they are on a 12 week lead time and have to be ordered by end of month, so in effect 14 weeks from now, that's over 3 months, or are you looking at 6 months plus

Yep, need at least 6 months because I've got a car going back.

Does anyone have the ambient lighting pack and if so do you think it's a worthwhile addition. There is just a brief description on the VW website

My first VW so I was a bit unsure stepping from an E Class but after seeing the quality of my sons Golf R I need not worry. Now it's here I can honestly say it is pretty good, no squeaks thuds or rattles, a very nice place to sit. It is very smooth, I know most say the spring suspension arrangement is a bit harsh compared to the air suspension but it is fine. I started a thread about the start stop being a bit too keen but I'm sure I'll adapt to it.
Its averaged nearly 31mpg in the first 300 miles so that bodes well, so long as the figure starts with a 3....heavy traffic seems to be around 28 and cruising low 30's. Managed 36 on a gentle A road trip at the weekend. It is very wide and you sit nice and high. Lots of grunt to overtake, quite effortless for such a heavy car. Overall very impressed so far.
