2015 Touareg 262 R line
Discussion
Chaps, could a few of you try something for me when you next go out for a spirited drive
When approaching a bend etc, just knock it down a gear or two (manually with the paddles) before accelerating.
I sometimes get a complete loss of power for a good few seconds before the power comes back. It's more apparent in the lower gears.
I've yet to drive another treg to see it's a trait of the 8spd gearbox, or a fault. It doesn't always happen.

I'm sure I saw somebody else post the same problem, maybe on this thread somewhere even?
I seem to remember trying it myself and not having the same issue.
Are you sure it's not just the rev limiter or traction control kicking in?
Ha - that would have probably been me.I seem to remember trying it myself and not having the same issue.

Tried it with and without ESP switched on, no difference.
Def not the rev limiter, revs will jump a bit when the gear changes down but then no power fir a few seconds (even at say, 3k revs). No problem whatseoever in full auto mode.

I'll try it when I get home this evening, but it couldn't be the coasting function could it?
Have you tried it with the coasting setting both on and off?
Just wondered how you got on fella? Have you tried it with the coasting setting both on and off?
In answer to your question from a couple of weeks back - yep have tried both with and without Coasting enabled, made no difference.
I have just taken delivery (at last) on my new 262 R line, a standard car apart from Metallic Black paint. I have been reading the manual and generally having a bit fiddle to get to know what's what and I have a couple of questions;
1. Am I right in thinking that the auto dipping left hand side mirror (as per BMW) is only available if you have the electric seat option?
2. I have tried 3 separate CD's in an attempt copy them to the HDD, however I just cannot get the option to "import", any ideas?

Anyone ?
Not sure the system is as intuitive of the latest gen IDrive... even my BMW 2012 system was better. Don't get me wrong the VW system isn't bad, it's just not as good.My advice; buy an SD card for a tenner (16GB or 32GB), drag your MP3's on, stick it in the Multimedia drive (drops down from the top of the glovebox), and enjoy.
Trying to get the iphone working etc was just too much faff.
CoinSl0t .From reading the manual, I was just expecting to load a CD, select options then import, however regardless of which CD I load the "import" option does not appear. I had an online chat with VW asking about this and according to the technical bods my car does not have a CD, so little hope of getting an answer there.
I have now had my car for just under 3 weeks so I thought I would post my initial impressions. Firstly this is my first SUV in over 10 years my last one being a BMW X5, all my subsequent cars have been sports cars.
We have now covered about 600 miles a mixture of motorway, town and country driving.
Good Points
1.I cannot believe how quiet and refined the car is on the motorway and how comfortable the ride is. I had a loan of a BMW 335d touring with Pano roof earlier in the year and the amount of road noise being transmitted inside the car was far greater than in the Touareg
2.Fuel consumption so far on mixed roads (country and motorway and not hanging around) 34 which I am very pleased with, driving around town around 28)
3.The engine, I love the torque and never feel short changed by the performance
4. The interior quality, the basic leather is in my opinion the equal of standard BMW and Mercedes leather.
5. The car can really be hustled along country roads, great ride quality and very good body control
6. The coasting function.
Areas Where Improvements Could Be Made (Personal Opinion)
1.The interior is a nice place to be, but could be a little more special, possibly extending the leather to the door cards and covering the door pulls with leather fabric
2. A personal favorite of mine is mood lighting, particularly in the door cards, it just lifts the interior quality for minimal cost, the same goes for the instrument panel, its very functional but just a bit plain for a £50k car.
3. The Sat Nav / Infotainment system, not as good as the BMW professional navigation system (but I do think this is the best system from any manufacturer) it would be nice if connectivity to the internet was included as per BMW for a one off fee (£95)
4. I have still been unable to copy CD's to the hard drive, in the BMW this feature was very simple.
Things I don't like
1. The start stop function and the auto hold feature, in my opinion these border on being dangerous as on occasion they cut in even before the car has stopped. In practice unless I know I am going to be stationary for a while I disable the start/stop
That's about it so far.

I had a test drive of a R Line 262 recently. The one thing that I really didn't like was the harsh ride quality at lower speeds. I just couldn't justify spending £40k on a car that tranmits every bump around town. I know you can specify air suspension but that's another £2k, and the Touareg's trump card is value for money over its direct rivals.
In addition, I thought the gearbox was rather slow to respond, a bit "dim witted" if you will.
Shame, because everthing else was good. Has anyone found the ride much cushier in the SE version?

Hi Keith, I don't think it is possible to copy the CDs to the hard drive but if you find a way please let me know!!
I agree 100% on the Start stop and hold functions which I also believe to be very dangerous and like you I switch it off most times however if this is designed for fuel economy then we are being short changed.
I posted this on MyTreg and others felt the same so one would think VW would pick up on this to address it?

I have just received my documentation from VW Finance and enclosed was a booklet "Contract hire drivers's guide Important Information" On page 5 in bold print under the heading of Foreign Travel it states
"Please note that we will not be liable for any cost arising from use of the vehicle outside of the UK. Whilst abroad the vehicle is not covered for breakdown, repair or vehicle hire. You are strongly advised to take out the necessary breakdown cover and check local conditions or laws before you travel"
Has anyone else noticed this?
At first glance it appears that once you take your vehicle out of the UK, you are on your own, regardless of the vehicle age.

I think you're reading too much into that, but worth checking if going abroad. I can't imagine pan-European warranty wouldn't be valid but maybe there's some difference with Roadside assistance on leased vehicles.Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
