Running the numbers on that deal and comparing with the special offer from www.centralukvehicleleasing.co.uk
It doesn't seem so great.
£399 per month for 5,000 miles p.a.
Vs.
£483 per month for 8,000 miles p.a.
On the same term of 2 years.
Those 3,000 extra miles per year you are paying for cost £0.34 per mile, whether you need them or not. Potentially worth going with the lower mileage allowance and paying for the extra miles you might use.

Servicing costs on 20k & 40k = £733
1 set of Tyres up to 57k (about right do you think ?) @ £600 (for 19" standard's)
Overall cost over 3 years = £18k (inc of VAT)
Does that sound like a good deal ? Anybody seen anything better ??

It was from my local VW Dealer, they have one due in, in 6wks so I may snap it up sooner rather than later as my current lease deal finishes in July
I've got an Xdrive 320D at the mo which I get about 43mpg out of (I don't drive that economically), do you think the Toerag will get anywhere near that ? I've read that driving it conservatively 35mpg should be achievable ??

re economy, really depends on your journey profile. My experience is town and short commutes with heavy traffic sees around 28 in winter and 32 in summer. On A roads at 50mph with the odd 30 section for towns but still with steady progress sees about 38mpg. Motorways at 85units - gives 32mpg; at 70 - 36/40, at 60 - 38/45. The best I've done with really gentle driving sticking around 55 and mainly motorways, was 46-49mpg for return journey of 140 miles each way.
I suspect with real effort you could get a long motorway journey down to over 50mpg, but die of boredom on the way!
Hi harry, my daily commute consists of a 70mile round journey, 60 miles of which are on A roads with no real issues in terms of roadworks. Like you say could drive it at 50mph & die of boredom whilst increasing my journey time considerably or accept that averaging 70-80mph means I get 35mpg in diesel. It's not fair to compare the toerag with a 320d, chalk & cheese but good to get an idea of how much extra it's gonna cost to run !
Using a fuel calculator, it's looks like an extra £43/month over the bmw, not too bad all things considered ??

Can anyone explain the following please. In January of this year I installed a pay as you go data only sim in the Touareg and thought I had been using it ever since then. We are about to head off on a European trip and thought I would check how much data I had left, to my surprise my data allowance expired after the first month, however I am still able to do an "online POI" search and still get prompted to connect to the Internet for both radio and sat nav.
Any ideas?

Thank you for the tip. I gave it a go today, initially my phone connected to the cars wifi, but then disconnected again within about 15 seconds, so it would appear on that front I have no data. We are however planning a European trip and today I used the sat nav to plan our route using the online search function to search for the hotels that we will be staying in, in the UK, France and Spain and it found them all.The only reason I wanted a data sim was to enable online searches of this nature, so I am a bit confused to say the least.
Perhaps the nav has a cache or something?
Probably a bit late now, but the data on this sim lasts 12 months from the date of activation, rather than those data sims that you have to top up every month -

The in-car wifi is a god send to keep the kids quiet on their iPads, definitely an option that I would always tick on future car purchases.

Thank you for the link.I am still wondering what additional benefits I will get as I do not need the in car wifi and the online search facility seems to work just fine at present. If for whatever reason I am unable to get online I will certainley go for one of those 12 gb 12 month SIMS.
I have been impressed by the Touareg's all round ability for a while, more so infact than I ever expected, however after having just completed a trans European trip covering 1900 miles in six days I am even more impressed. I think the Touareg is one of the most underrated large SUV's out there.
The car was fully loaded and for a a large portion of the journey the aircon was working hard with outside temperatures touching 36 degrees although you would never have known that from inside the car.
The normal cruising speed was around 85+ and the car was rock solid and there was very little, road, engine or wind noise, the ride itself was also nigh on perfect.
Best of all the overall MPG figure was 33.5.
