2015 Touareg 262 R line
Discussion
Agree on a 'cheaper' spec for lease, as this is my first personal lease I skipped lots of options that I would have got for a purchased car.
The vehicle I drove had a silly high spec, but the salesman explained what the extra's on it were, but obviously skipped the electric seat upgrade.
It's not a big issue, but moving a seat manually in a 50k car seems a bit 'low rent' these days.

Rob- I agreed the delivery date as part of the deal, as my current contract does not run out till then. I also agree on the electric front seats they should be standard on a £50k car, but I am in a similar position to Harry, I will drive it 99.5% of the time, so once the seat is set that will be it. I also tend to have different priorities based on whether I am buying or leasing, and nearly went for the area view, but when looked at as a percentage of the total lease cost it just did not make sense for me. If I were buying I would also have opted for the air suspension and area view. I think the car comes very well spec'd as standard, so I am quite happy with the "basic" car.
There are still some claiming march prices but all the deals I looked at were pricey, getting on for £14k over 2 years. There are however cars available within a few weeks if you look around.
In the end I went for the A6 Avant, think the big engined Tuareg didn't make that much sense considering the extra costs and much much lower fuel economy.
Shame, quite liked the panoramic roof and the smooth V6 diesel would have been nice but with a planned 40k miles over the next 2 years I'm probably going to save £2k in fuel alone.

I should get mine by the end of next week, I used the tracking system and I was told it arrived before the lease company even knew.
I'm not big on car cleaning these days, but I've heard and read good things about Gtechnic Exo v2 sealant, it should last 12 months and is apparently easy to apply.
Anybody else bothered to use a sealant on theirs?
I'm annoyed at myself for not listening to the standard stereo, for some reason I just completely forgot and only spotted the audio upgrade after I'd placed the order. Any views on the standard radio?

Harry - Agreed still 3 inches narrower than a RR Sport and 2 inches narrower than an X6 though, but I guess I won't be venturing into many multi-storey car parks.
Wouldn't want anything wider, visited the SiL in Surrey the other weekend and decided to take a back road, it had a 6'6" width restriction with high kerbs and metal posts. One of my passengers had to get out to guide me as I've not had it long enough to be totally confident on placing it, theremust have only been all of 2" clearance either side for the alloys.....and a little bit more for the wing mirrors. Bloody tank trap, quite literally! Harry - I would have done the same, those diamond cut wheels look expensive to repair, one of the reasons why I opted for the Talladega alloys, as these appear to be just a standard paint finish. For our trip to Spain on the Euro-tunnel, I have decided to err on the side of caution and have opted for the carriage reserved for larger vehicles. The standard carriage does not have a lot of room to spare, probably about 4 inches either side for a vehicle with a normal track width.
Latest brim to brim was 29.9mpg, dash meter gave 30.3mpg so still close. Lots of short journeys and sat parked in traffic this time around I think killed it.
I did manage a trip out recently when it averaged 41mpg for a 14mile ew mile journey up a A road at just under 50mph average, which restored my faith in it's consumption and the first journey I've seen over 40mpg average.

Mine got delivered and had 29mpg over the 120 mile trip to my office, I've added another 100 or so (urban) and it's dropped to 26mpg.
My delivery driver had nearly 200 miles to do and managed it at 24mpg!! I don't think he was hanging about...I get the best part of +10% by selecting the coast function, read my previous posts. Suck eggs time but if you are not used to big auto's then you learn to modify your driving style to come off the gas a lot earlier than you would with a manual. Mine is sitting at just under 2k miles now and along with the warmer weather I expect the consumption to improve further to near mid 30's overall.
