Since posting this thread, the climate control packed in on the car and it was hard enough getting them to fix that on warranty, so I gave up regarding the exhaust trims.

One thing I have learnt from the experience is that, for me, I am better maintaining my cars through a trusted specialist and paying for whatever needs doing, than going through warranty and the resulting arguments/blood pressure that results.

This means, for Audi, they will no longer retain a loyal customer in respect of selling used approved vehicles or extending warranties etc.

In fact, after this car, I probably won't even buy another Audi at all.

In my experience I don't feel the brand is that good, a friend of mine had a gearbox fail at 28k miles, literally a week out of warranty and charged him £700 for removal and diagnosis that the box was knackered, well we knew that. Plus various other issues I see and hear about. I suppose there must be the good uns but the bad ones out there and the stories put me off.

As you say an idendant will save you money over time and the less stress of whether it will or will not be covered is another thing
