Out of curiosity, your Cupra would have cost around £25k. Why did you opt for the Cupra instead of a lightly used Golf GTI or Audi A3 S-Line for example? Not that I am criticising your choice, I am just interested in your reasons. Thanks.

Used Cupra 280s seem cracking value, I was looking at getting a new S3 but the £30k+ price puts me off, there are Cupras on Autotrader for £22k! Who needs quattro anyway!

I'm in a similar boat (as per my original post). Had been looking at A3, but to get the spec I wanted, I'd be looking at £22k for a used one. I can get the exact spec (and then some) with the Leon FR, as an ex-demo with about 3k miles on the clock for £16k. The A3 is nice, but is it worth £6k more? Probably not.

Well you don't on a dry track...

Although on a damp greasy road pulling out of a junction it might be more useful

A look into my previous car history might tell you why:

MK4 SEAT Ibiza Stage1 , MK2 Leon FR TDI Stage2, MK2 Leon Cupra R Stage2+

I went for an FR 150 TDI, I was looking at Golfs / A3's Ideally - I had an Ibiza Cupra 12 years ago and didn't have a great experience with that (poor customer service but great car) - In the period since I've had various VW's and Skoda's, not an Audi, Thought I'd never go back to SEAT but my Leon was £16k, 2k miles and had a lot of options ticked - at the time the equivalent golf/A3 was circa £21-23k so was a no brainer really! I do see it more as a Company Car as I'm on an allowance so residuals aren't as bigger issue to me but still important to an extent.

As people have said, it is a big step up from the previous generation, to me the quality/feel is good, but then for the past few years I have been used to a 2008 Polo and a 1970 Camper so its not as thought I have had a recent generation Golf / A3 to compare.. I've had the rattle in the door as mentioned previously (common problem) which SEAT have resolved - Currently my only issue with the car is that when you fill the petrol tank full, you hear the fuel in the tank (get a slight knock) SEAT's response on this is don't fill the tank full, do other people have this? I'm told its a known fault??

Customer Service again has not been great this time round, I had issues with my dealer going back on their word at the start, which just put a massive downer on the whole buying experience, I usually get excited about buying / collecting a hew car but didn't with this one.

I've had mine about 7 months now but I still find myself hankering after a Golf GTI though...

Here's mine, Red again!

My wife ran an Audi A3 se 1.4 ACT through the NHS lease scheme for three years.

Due to changes in the lease scheme, when our three years was up we decided to come out of the scheme and buy a lightly used car instead.

We ended up getting a Seat Leon FR with the same engine as the Audi.

The quality of the interior isn't as good in the Seat, but you get far more toys for your money. Everything else is much of a muchness.

We got a picture of the pair of them together.
