My sister has just traded her 2012 Polo GTi in for a Golf R.

She had the Polo from new and covered c24k miles in that time. Over the period of ownership, she maybe had to put in 4 or 5 litres of oil in it, nothing too horrific at all. Apart from that, there were absolutely no issues with the car at all.

If he's still interested and doesn't mind travelling for the correct car, then it's the Candy White 3dr which is currently for sale at Camerons Volkswagen in Perth. The guy we dealt with in sales is called Carlo, who knows all about the car and is very easy to deal with.

Cheers,
Grant

I had a 2010 ibiza bocanegra for a few months with the same engine. It was on 40k when I bought it and I took it up to 50k. It was a great car to drive, powerful and good economy but it wasn't without fault. It had full main dealer history but drank oil like nobody's business and even the previous owner admitted to me it was thirsty since it was brand new. I also had to get the dog oil changed twice and 6 coil packs and a power steering pump. I got rid because it just felt like I was waiting for something major to go wrong! I saw it on ebay about a year after I sold it with the description mentioning it had a new engine and gearbox!
