The old wheelie bin blocking the road routine worn out.

Now that car security system have become so complex cars can't be nicked without the keys
I seem to recall a guy getting stabbed with a screwdriver and having his txt nicked a few years ago.
Stabbed dead.

Total idiots nicking these cars just to drive round in them, because they are way out of their league.
More ANPR.

I've had a similar scenario play out a few times of 3 burly blokes dressed in black following me for quite a distance, circled myself twice and they stayed true. Don't want my car being stolen from me first hand and I certainly don't want them to know where the hell I live so they can break in. Ended up flooring it extremely dangerously to get away from them and my heart was pounding.

Such a shame these cars are so desirable to thieves.

Mine was nicked last weekend, broke into house while we were asleep...

Black 5 Door DSG, mega car, really want another but all I hear now is about them going missing.

Dunno what to do, it was the perfect car for me, 9 months old and 21K miles and the shine hadn't worn off.

It's just awful reading these stories and I don't know what the answer is. What have the police advised owners do in these situations? Short of fitting a tracker, better locks, house alarm, CCTV etc, I guess the answer is nothing, other than not buying one in the first place.

Must be some decent after market alarms which you could fit to the car to make it harder to start, like a secondary immobiliser? If VAG are making such desirable cars then perhaps they need to beef up the security of them so that you need more than a key to start it. I know it would put me off owning one.

Hate reading these types of stories. To the op and other people that have had their cars stolen I can only sympathise.

Very sad times.

The only deterrent I have seen that is viable is a device that disables the car 10-30 seconds later and just locks you out. Basically you start the car normally and also have to enter a code or press a button or something.

Forgot the devices name though.

Only thing is be prepared i.e. 2-4 of them coming back but hey you have 10-30 seconds...

Polo GTI was stolen from over the road from me the other week. Went in the house took the keys and drove off. Seems they had been watching it.............Owner now has the same car again and I am waiting for that to go to.

Bloke I work with lives on a "posh estate" which is being targeted by thieves at the moment. They've had several house break in's recently. In one where two cars were stolen the thieves entered the house during the day whist the owners were in and took the keys....they then returned at 3am and drove the cars off.

I suppose the owners just think they've misplaced the keys if they do notice that they have gone missing for the few hours before the cars disappear.

Does seem these incidents are outside the London area in terms of the ones mentioned, I am sure this happens elsehwere though of course

As stated what can you do as people work to pay for these cars, and they seem to end up targets because of what they drive and probably not much you can do to stop them really.

Large parts of London have on street parking where it's not clear who owns the car. Thus the scrotes dont know whose house/flat to break into to get the keys, It's the only advantage of on street parking....

Furry Molegrips.

Burglars don't enjoy one off these hanging of their aris.
Good at swallowing fingers.
I heard of one, off his food for a week, when taken to the vet, had two fingers removed from his stomach.

Very Loyal.

Or like my friend come back to find your house ransacked and discover your staffie has been fed and shut in the garden by the people who stole your TV. hehe
on this incident he said:
"I can't believe he let them get as far as the kitchen, but once they got to the dog food i can fully believe he stop being a fking guard dog and probably tried to show them where the fking tin opener is!"

I feel sorry for anyone whose lost their pride and joy through this, its now a concern of mine looking at what car to get next as not only looking at the usual factors on choosing a car running costs/insurance etc, owning one as a daily that risks a jacking I'm now adding. I could just be being paranoid but last thing I want while loading 2 young kids in the car is a gun on my head. fk that

Is it just the VAG range of hot hatches getting this (ok I know of 1 RS6 taken at gun point in Birmingham) but don't seem to hear much on M cars or AMGs getting the same amount of car jackings/driveway stealing's, whether that's just internet publicity it could be.

Allowing anti hijack car alarms is better.
Having it cut engine sound alarms, flash lights and fill car with a nerve agent is a better idea.

Had a cobra alarm on a mk2 Golf 16valve GTI back when Cosworths were the ram raiders weapon of choice.
Back then insurance was through the roof.
You got two key fobs
One was the arming box, opening and closing the locks etc
The other was the one you used if high jacked.
It over rode everything, the car would be immobilised with the sirens, one in the cabin which was f cking loud, and one under the bonnet, blaring.
