Hi all,

I've just bought myself a rather lovely A4 Cab 2.4V6, 04 plate, 84K, immaculate condition. Just a lovely, lovely car.

I know she won't be quick, but she is at least smooth and nice to drive. Intend to keep her for a year or two I think smile

Anyway, only thing missing is cruise control, I thought this was an easy retrofit but I'm now worried that it may be harder than I thought!

My car has a three spoke non-multifunction wheel.

How much pain is this going to cause me? Also, anyone got Vagcom near Brighton or will I need to find a willing dealer? Quite happy to pay for the privilege wink

Anyway, any comments on the car (or things to watch out for) gratefully received, it's had the belt done in 2011 about 10K miles ago, so I understand that it's due again next year...

Had a quick look on hazzy dayz website and it appears you can fit cruise without a MFSW, as long as you have the DIS screen (below)

But it appears to be more expensive for non MFSW cars, so maybe needs extra parts for it to work.

Nice motor, got it just in time for summer! Cruise can be fitted for about £200. Don't know if you are near this lot?

I think I have the DIS, the car certainly scrolled through average mpg etc.

Here's the steering wheel and instrument panel...

They may be able to do the job, it's a hell of a trek but I could perhaps get it done when I'm en route north one month, because in that case I literally pass their door. smile

Curious to know if I can do it cheaper though!

ETA - Yes, apparently DIS means you can see average mpg, and I definitely can do that, so I must have the VIS already.

I wonder if I get them to fit the cruise with the upgraded ECU then I may be able to buy a used MFSW from ebay and just fit that myself...

Oh, and because I've no doubt I'll want access to a marque specific forum, what's the consensus on the most PH-like Audi forum? I don't want one that is all about fitting stretched tyres, if there is one out there like that...

Hazzydayz work mobile and if you're not in a huge rush they book jobs in local batches to reduce their travel time/expense or you can pay a little extra for their doing it immediately.

There are lots of Audi forums as well as Pistonheads, like any forum they have their ups and downs wink

Audi-Sport.net, rs246.com and audisrs.com the big ones as well as model specific ones, US forums etc... Most are fairly S/RS centred.

We had this added to our '06 TT by our local Audi dealer wasn't horrifically expensive but wasn't cheap either.

Why not ask your local dealer of indy and get a quote? That way they'll tell you if it's available for your model/spec.

I have an RS6 of similar vintage to your car.

If they both have the same electronic systems, my cruise control is operated using the stalk on the left-hand side of the steering column. As well as doing indicators main/dipped functions, there is a sliding switch on the face of the stalk and a button on the end.

The sliding swich 'arms' the cruise and the button on the end sets the cruise speed.

Might just be a case of swapping the stalks... but could it ever be as easy as that?
...and of course, the A6 and A4 might be completely different!!!

Thanks for the replies guys, I've registered on audi-sport and already been put in touch with someone who has offered to come out and check if I have the right steering control module.

If I do, he can fit the new stalk & cowling, and code it up immediately, if not, I guess I'll have to trawl ebay! Can't say fairer than that smile

Going to pick her up tomorrow evening, really looking forward to it although am strangely sad about saying goodbye to my faithful Mondeo who has been a better car to me than many of my more "desirable" motors ever were!
