Thinking of going for it now that I have a few miles on it.
I'm looking at Revo or AMD. Any recommendations welcome.

I take it you own the vehicle? If you don't I would be very wary in what you do if its a lease/financed car as there was a thread where this happened and the turbo went and VW voided the warranty on it.

As above, a re-mapped MK7 R where the turbo failed and VW voided the warranty as the car was found to have been re-mapped. There's been other stories on a few other Golf R forums where the MK7 R has been re-mapped, gone bang and VW have said no to any warranty claim.

If it were me I'd leave it alone especially with knowledge that if the car goes wrong you're in for a big bill as a VW warranty will not pay out if the car is found to have been tampered with.

The thread is titled Golf R Warranty Help Please.

It's on page 37 of this sub forum at the botton of the page at the moment, sorry I can't get the link to work.

Be interesting to see how that was resolved.

Reading through the first thread definitely makes it look like the car had been mapped and therefore VW were within their rights to reject a claim.

Funny how it all went quiet.

I would certainly say it worth doing A LOT of research into this before you commit. I have heard of some tuning companies offering warranties for the parts voided by 'official' warranties, but I bet you pay for the privilege.

Wasnt there also a thread where the finance company insisted the outstanding amount was paid in full after it was found the car was modified?

If it's leased, then it's inevitably a breach of the terms of the lease to modify.

HUGE gamble if it's not owned by the OP... specially after the seemingly random failures catching people out?!

Cheers,
