How do you find the Golf R compared to the R32?

It's different. Feels a lot faster, but maybe that's the newy newness!

Wow I love that! (I have horrible taste, I know). Would have specced mine just like that if it was available in the UK.

50bhp between them you'd hope the 7R was faster
Presume the R is probably lighter too

Very well! Great things to drive, if anything they feel quicker than the numbers suggest.

Thought it might be a good excuse to post gratuitous pictures of the first real proper shake down.

Road trip of 2,300 miles

Battled round operation stack in time to enjoy dinner near Bethune Friday night. (Original plan was to stay in Ashfield Friday & catch early Saturday shuttle...but we just pressed on and made our first pit stop about 21.30

Next day was a biggie....930km to Saint Remy de Provence. Gorgeous place, fab hotel. Was hot!

After a few lovely days onward to one of our favourite places in the world..Villefranche-sur-Mer

Time for a few of these:

Always sad to leave Villefranche..but onwards to Varenna on Lake Como Via Alba in wine country

Still hot!

Chance for some alternate transport

Time for some snap with the best view!

Time for home!

Forgot to mention a slight detour to soak up some real petrol heritage!

To summarise:

I love this car! Nothing beat us away from the gare de peage grand prix!

I do think that limestone grey in either Gti or R trim looks fantastic. Great photos of the road trip 2smoking barrels! Off to Province myself in the r32 next month, can't wait smile
