I was thinking about the manual gearbox but some reading on a TT forum suggests the synchros are weak, and it's a case of when rather than if they will break, expensively...

3 years on and there's not much difference in the price of an early manual TT-RS and a good late 944T. Assuming similar bhp which one would you choose?

They are very, very different cars and very different ownership propositions.

For rarity value it would have to be the 944 and it is a nice looking car considering its age. I might see four 944s a year, and see four TTs a day.

Audi could have done more with the bodywork, to make it stand out from the 4 cylinder versions.
