It seams to me that manufactures are giving extra discounts to lease diesel cars for some reason.

The Golf GTI petrol and the GTD diesel have more or less the same list price, are more or less the same but one is a bit faster and the other more economical.

All the lease deals I have seen the Golf GTI petrol is at least 30% more to lease than the GTD.It the same with the Ford Focus ST,Skoda Octavia VRS etc petrol v diesel.

I am after a Golf GTD 5 door.2 year deal,5000 miles,Red and no extras. There are a few deals around for the £6000 mark including VAT but will let you know when I get one for £5500 all in.Fingers crossed.

I've just ordered a 5 door Golf GTD in solid red for delivery in June. It's a 2015 MY but that doesn't bother me.

It's on 2 years/ 10k per annum fully maintained with excess mileage at 12p per mile (incl VAT) - higher than the normal 7.2ppm as it's maintained. The cost for the car is £258.62 per month (incl VAT) on 6+23 and for the two years is a total of £7499.98 - just under my target budget of £7,500 for a fully maintained car on 10k per annum.

To be honest I've struggled to find a good deal. Plenty of websites offering deals but when you ask then no cars available or the deal has been 'amended' - usually higher

Worth bearing in mind that VW are charging for Tornado Red now, so that might impact prices slightly. Flat black is the only standard GTD colour now.

Mine is red, and I'd still maintain that it's the best colour for the GTD.

It's to do with bulk purchase discounts. Presumably they buy more GTDs hence bigger discount.

That's exactly what I've come across, on Tuesday I found a deal which was £286 all in on a 2 year 10k lease, I'd asked all the question which I could think of, then I passed the guy my sisters contact details so they could get a deal in motion, when he speaks to her he turns around and says the deal has been pulled, I couldn't believe it

I didn't actually think it applied the brakes above 19mph (unless you're using ACC of course, which is a different matter). This page would seem to confirm that -

The key weakness with it is that it doesn't prevent a typical slow speed shunt as it doesn't work below 5mph. But it does make insurance substantially cheaper so not to be sniffed at and ACC is more useful than regular cruise in the crowded UK.
