Considering an A5 3 litre Tdi
Discussion
I'm considering changing from a Range Rover to an A5, I've always quite liked the look of the A5 but just wondered what they're like to live with, I've driven one and was very impressed with how fast it was and the economy too, but only had it for a day.
Main questions are, is there anything to look out for on them particularly?, my budget would be £15k-£16k and there seems to be a fair amount of choice, only thing I've noticed is most of them are Sports, how do they differ from the S Line?, as visually they look the same to me. One thing I like is how modern they still feel inside, I'd want to go for one with Nav,Bluetooth etc and auto is a must, I'm not sure if they use an auto box or a dual clutch setup though?.
Also I wanted to know is the 4wd system in it Haldex or a proper Quattro system?.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Proper Quattro, and it's good.
Mine was a manual, which wasn't great.
Sline is lower and stiffer than the sport, so good to try both. Mine was a sport on 18s. Is was ok, but not a patch on the XF for ride comfort and handling even with the 4wd on the Audi.
Things to look for. Exhaust hanger wear, and causes exhaust knocking. Interior trim is really cheap and nasty. Dashboard rattles are annoying. Other than these things, and enjoyable drive. I got fed up with the trim and rattles in the end, and got a little bored overall.
I chipped mine to try and keep the interest going, but got rid in the end and got a Jag. On my second Jag now, and still love them after 2 1/2 years of driving them. More than can be said for the A5!

I have to agree with Dr G.
I bought mine - 08 3.0TDI manual - at 18mths old with 14k on it
and sold last year with 56k on it (4yrs to the day) and I can honestly say
there were no trim issues and apart from an ignition switch & filler cap release
there were no other issues.
Was a lovely place to be on regular early morning 120 mile run to Birmingham.
If you can find one with B&O upgrade (£500 option) I found it better than the Bose
in my previous S4.
My sister had her 2.7TDI for 3 years and had no issues at all - apart from hubby
being too cheap to buy her a Quattro
Would still be driving mine today but new job forced me to comply with their emissions
standards or lose the car allowance.
Brilliant car to drive - sport suspension & 19s - great to look at and quick enough
even after my S4.
Think I may be slightly deluding myself on the last bit
