Mine went in yesterday at 85k miles.

Not as bad as a 35k mile RS4 that was in at the same time but pretty grubby none the less!

Picked it up tonight and it's a different car - huge improvement biggrin

Really crisp all the way through the rev range and much zippier.

Cheers,

Phil

Can I ask the cost of the carbon clean?

Carbon clean was £200 + VAT, Flap delete and Remap was £250 + VAT.

I had them done together so he did it for £350 + VAT.

I also had plugs done while it was all open and that was an additional £105 + VAT.

It had oil and filters done about 1,000 miles previously or I would have had that done as well.

I thought it was a bargain.

Cheers,

Phil

Was it a terraclean?

You're best to ask Stuart at SW Autos directly - I just dropped it off and left him with it.

Hi everyone I am Stuart Williams the owner of SW Autos, I have been in business for fifteen years tuning, modifying and repairing all makes and models of cars/ commercial vehicles. I have built and raced a 880bhp Volvo 850, Made and built a one off 1380bhp Skyline R33 GTR, Daily driven a 900bhp Evo 6 and a Porsche 911 turbo RUF flatnose with 700bhp as well as many more. My current daily is an Audi RS6 V10 with over 800bhp. We specialise in ultra high performance from Audi to Lamborghini and from Ferrari to Porsche. My company proud's itself on being able to provide OEM spec and more repair and servicing for any vehicle. We have everything and more than any main dealer in regard to tooling, experience and equipment for any car. I have invested over 1 million pounds in the last ten years to make sure we can out do all the dealers at a very competitive price. We have full manufacturer approval for servicing and warranty work for over 98% of UK supplied vehicles.

We also have full diagnostic equipment at manufacturer level for 99% of UK supplied. We have a fully equipped workshop/machine shop including 4 wheel camera alignment, MOT station, Best money can buy tyre and balance machines with all OEM approvals as well as a full machine shop including lathe's ,milling machines, MIG,TIG and arc welding equipment. We also have the UK's largest independent stock of OEM specialist tooling and a network of overnight supply for anything we may not have. We can remap and tune virtually anything and as we have been doing it for years we can promise better gains and economy than all the commonly available off the shelf pre bought maps. Just remember we always work with safety and product longevity in mind so you might be able to buy a so called higher HP tune but will they guarantee there work like we do?

As to the Audi S6 we use this product http://www.forteuk.co.uk/product-detail/20/Petrol-... for the carbon cleaning and we choose to use this visually to maximise results. IE we strip the manifold off and manually use the product to guarantee all the carbon deposits are removed as well as vacuuming the residue from behind the valves so as not to contaminate the internals of the engine. We use this method to minimise any wear issues and to maximise the effectiveness of the job done.

Please do not hesitate to contact me or any member of my staff for a quote for any job, any car. Thanks Stuart

At that price, it might be worth the drive down to see them if my car doesn't sell.

Will drop them a line.

Stuart

Thanks for chipping in. I've read variously that the V10 in the S8 doesn't seem to suffer carbon build up as badly as in the S6. Can't really think why that would be, but have you seen many V10 S8s with bad carbon build up? And how long does the carbon stripping process take?

Is there anyway other than a visual detection to ascertain if there's carbon buildup (mines just hit 31k)

How long did the carbon clean take ?
any noticeable difference with the remap ?

The S8 D3 V10 BSM engine suffers acutely from coking up the inlet just like most other FSI engines I have just done mine at 85K 2008 just in time too before the variable inlet flaps were about to feed themselves to the engine too!!!!

Reckon I will get mine done, doesn't look like its selling, and fair to say, at 160k, it will likely need doing.

Not even at that price? Surely that's a veritable bargain for someone?

SW had my car for 3 days but I wasn't in any hurry, if you were coming some distance I'm sure it could be pre-arranged to do it in a day barring any problems.

Stuart found a couple of other issues with mine, and had to helicoil a bolt that stripped as well, so we got it all sorted in one hit.

I had mine up for sale prior to this and other than a couple of derisory offers I had very little useful interest frown I love the car but needed to pay a large tax bill and in the end decided that HMRC will just have to charge me a bit of interest instead!

Cheers,

Phil
