Mrs O'H has a 2013 Audi TT Roadster, it's only covered 12,500 miles, is still covered under the manufacturers warranty and we've noticed there are a couple of noises with the car. It's a 2013 Black Edition so running on 19's.

On start up there is what sounds like a rattle coming from the front right hand side of the engine bay. Is this a water pump problem or cam belt tensioner? I have no idea.

Also there is creaking noise when moving the car slowly both in reverse and forwards. I'm wondering whether this is bush related as we had the same problem with an A4 Avant we had a couple of years ago.

Have any other TT owners had similar problems or can anyone shed any light on these two problems. Obviously the car will end up back at the dealer, thankfully 3 miles down the road and should be covered by warranty.

Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

The engine type would be more helpful than the trim level. And fuel : Petrol, Diesel, llama poo?

If it's the 2.0 TFSI there's a few horror stories of cam tensioner failure.

I would get it into a dealer for check asap, the ea888 engine is known for cam tensioner failures, the rattle is the first sign, followed by a new engine once the chain jumps. It might be something else, but I would get it looked at asap.

Creaking is probably dry bushes in this hot weather, get a can of rubber lubricant and spray everywhere there's a suspect bush. That should help confirm the cause. Often happens when going over speed bumps slowly aswell.

Just to update this thread:

The car went into Audi last week who after two days confirmed what was wrong. The cam chain tensioner needs replacing and also the two front top mounts need replacing. The tensioner is on back order, however, we won't be having the car back as we've decided to replace it with an Audi S3 Cabriolet, 6 months old and a very good deal.
