Hi all

I'm looking for advice/experiences of remapping the r8 v10

On r8 talk, which is heavily US based, many people talk of remaps transforming the r8 and "taking it to another level"

In all honesty I'm quite happy with the performance buy I'm always keen to explore the possibilities and look to the good folk of ph ti share their experiences as even google seems to come back with little uk based feedback

Hi I had my S8 D3 V10 done engine and gearbox remap, after doing the inlet decoke extra 50 or so ponies and a bit more torque, could not honestly say I could tell, hands up those that can use all of the 450/500 bhp in their road cars on road or on track? drives a bit sharper and delivers in a different way, worth it? not to me.

Remapping any NA engine is usually considered a waste, no matter how big or powerful the engine is. You'll only notice the difference at warp speed 9 and considering your talking about an R8 V10 which probably isn't being used even near it's potential on a daisy basis you will probably never notice.

If you really wanna go down the route of tuning you're looking at either supercharging or turbocharging the engine. I don't think i have to mention the costs involved for either of those. Otherwise i really wouldn't bother and just enjoy it as it is.

You will get c. 50PS

MRC Tuning

The R8 V10 is restricted. Underneath is the LP560

In real life, a drag stock vs. stock ... when you hit 5krpm upwards a mapped V10 will walk away from a stock V10

Thanks for the replies guys

Dk....have you driven a remapped v10 sir...if so would you say the difference is noticeable?

I'm loathe to sound £500-1000 on a map unless it's going to be felt on the butt dyno

I never ever race on the streets so I'm not bothered about beating people in races!

Hi It's not just the map, you will need the exhaust really to go will it another expense to make the best out of it
Go out in your standard car and try to drive over 5k rpm on anything other than a straight road. In real life trust me you really cannot tell you have just spent £750 on a remap, it does deliver in a different way and that makes it feel "different" power is addictive, plus I can only speak in regards to a 2008 S8, I was expecting a big change! there was not, I had a gearbox remap too at the sametime that made the changes smoother and shifted the change points, but to be honest putting it in sport mode made it very very quick car as standard, use the paddles and it does what you want. I love it to bits an epic motorcar and with a Miltek it sounds truly amazing.
If you are going to keep the car put an exhaust on it 1st then learn how to use what power you have as standard, if you can keep that throttle on the floor for more than 30 seconds at anytime your either very talented or very brave. either way enjoy!!
