Hello,

I have 2000 A6 Avant with 100kish on the clock, in the last week I've noticed a judder when I pull away in reverse, then yesterday I lost drive almost completely in reverse, if I just select reverse and take my food off the brake the car will go back but as soon as I hit an incline or rev the engine then all drive is gone! All the forward gears seem to operate fine though.
I done extensive googling and it seems a common issue with the TCU but on the Multitronic boxes, but do I have a Multitronic box as the car is a 2000 model? The gearbox code is EBV but I can't seem to find out what that means?

I've found a company that will test the TCU for £45 and repair it for £195 so seems a good place to start but would welcome any suggestions, I've got a code reader turning up tomorrow so will have a look at that too.

Cheers

tumbleweedidealaugh well not quite the response I was hoping for... wink

Got the answer in the end anyway, on the bright side it turns out it's not a Multitronic box after all so not the ECU fix I thought so I didn't waste my money on testing it, slightly annoying though it's a ZF box with a buggered reverse drumfrown been told by the transmission specialist its RIP A6... So onwards and upwards, off oop north on Saturday to pick up (if as promised) an shiny new(ish) 2008 A6 Avant 2.8fsi Quattro S-line driving quite excited now so fingers crossed it comes pretty much fully loaded too, over 10k of options biggrin
