I have owned an S6 V10 and 4 S8 V10s as well as a D4 W12 6.3 A8L. My brother also had an S6 Avant V10. In fact KungFu bought both mine and my brothers S6's from us!

The sequence was S6-S8-W12-S8-S8 and now I find myself looking at S8s again! I would not consider another S6, but I would jump at the right S8. Great mix of entertainment and luxury. Driving a 15 plate Merc E350CDi AMG Line estate at the moment - almost die with boredom on any journey over 5 miles!

KungFu - would be interested in your thoughts on the RR in a few months - I did catch myself browsing 5.0 S/C Vogues the other day!

MrTickle, as you've owned a few v10's you will know - can you 'feel' the engine feel like a slight misfire / unevenness at low rpm or do i need the carbon clean?

Are the S8's on 20 inch wheels 'harsh'. I find I can tell which side a coin is facing just by driving over it!

Mine, which is fairly low mileage, will sometimes feel a little uneven on a cold start. A blip on the gas usually sorts it out.

I wouldn't say the ride is as harsh as that. What tyre pressures are you running?

Never noticed a misfire feeling on any of mine. I tended to give the throttle a little blip at start up to let them settle to idle.

As for the ride, I always felt it was pretty good on the 20" rims. The air suspension I found best left in the 'auto' mode rather than 'dynamic'.

They did have a factory recall on the coil packs - might be worth checking yours was done?

Rufmeister!!! Great minds think alike!

I just got rid of my S6 Avant last week and am due to view a Supercharged RRS on Sunday with a view to buying it. I'll post pics up if I collect it. Massive positive is that the current owner has fitted a non res Quicksilver exhaust already...
Out of interest, as I'm the market for a S6 avant, how much did yours go for?

Thanks

Had a two hour drive home in it and it was faultless. Obviously not as eager to get off the mark as an S6 but once it was off the line, it was pretty quick. Not driven it since then. Got it in the bodyshop for some colour coding and interior bits changed to piano black. Also getting the spare set of wheels done in gunmetal grey. I'll report back once I've driven it more.

Oh and a smaller pulley upgrade is only £168 for the part for both 4.2 and 5.0 engines...

Viewed one today, VERY close to home, Mrs even knows the seller, nice car.

Needs a few bits:

TPMS x 4 £2-250?)
Drivers door soft close inop (2nd hand motor £50)
Drivers door keyless inop (2nd hand handle £50?)

Labour on top, but I am hoping that's all that's needed?

Noticed a few posts about WD40 on handle kicking it back into life, doubt I'd be that lucky.

All sounds like an easy fix. I just can't believe a car this good can be had for around £15K That's VW up money!

Post if you get it. I'll dig out the eBay link to the third party TPMS sensors I got.

Soft Close needs the door card stripping out, and usually a new lock mechanism - that's what happened on mine. Sometimes it's a broken cable. That bit cost me about £300 including parts, labour and VAT from a local indy. Rear doors are more expensive, especially if you have the electric blinds. Takes longer to disassemble.

TPMS was about £75 per corner for new sensors. Thank goodness for warranty.

Not sure about the keyless entry - do you mean the locking button, or the key-sensor? In either case, you might save a few quid on labour by getting it done at the same time as the soft close while the door is stripped down.

As long as it's not a 2012 car, you should be fine. 2012 onwards, faulty TPMS is an MOT failure

I don't think any of that would bother me personally Rufmeister. Just leave it be and enjoy. Plus, if you Mrs is anything like mine, she doesn't know the meaning of soft close anything. Slam, slam, SLAM.

I'm a gimp! The soft close not so much a worry, but the handle I'd have to have, as its just such a great feature for a lazy so and so like myself!

The TPMS doesn't worry me, probably just get that cancelled out on VCDS.

Still, nice to have all the stuff working, but it seems not many of them out there do, all seem to suffer from soft close issue on drivers door and TPMS. To pay circa £200 to check the tyre pressures, its a bit much i think!

There she is!

Resonated Milltek is lovely, and the B+O is unreal.

Love it.

clap Well played that man!

Now, roll over to the nearest un-camera-ed motorway, drop it down through the gearbox and bury the throttle. Then come. back and report on the sound you heard! wink
