Thought about the tech pack mainly for the better screen but its too expensive. Would be a fantastic car if we can find a deal with that spec. Fingers crossed.

I'd value the tech pack - at the pre-discount cost of £1600 it's not a big jump considering the overall cost. Not sure which options are really going to help resale value most though.
Bexley Audi came back with the biggest discount offer for me on the £57k I specced up = ~£25% off on finance, £2k less without.
Thats a great discount, if I don't get similar through carwow I may PM you for a contact there. Its a bit of a mugs game trying to guess which options really mean something at resale time but i reckon the better/electric S sports seats and sports diff would be attractive options that would add something to the cars value. Certainly if there was a used car around now with these options I would pay more for it. I just re-read what the tech pack offers and still struggle to justify it as much as i would like to, the upgraded screens would be nice to have but the rest doesn't add anything we would use.

Pick it up after work Monday assuming they get the discs and pads in on time. Probably no pics until next weekend - will be too busy gloating!When can we expect pics
not sure the sporst diff would make much difference to normal punters - just us petrol head types! I'd expect speakers (Bose+), nav Plus, etc. to make a difference to most. as long as you've got full phone prep I'm not sure anything extra is a big issue to resale on that side.
Yeah you could be right on the tech pack Iain, will give that some more consideration. I have found that carwow deals have been coming in at 15-18% off and around 21% if taking finance. Drive the deal is coming in at 21% off for cash so will look more into that as dont want to use finance just to get a better price.

Worth being aware that you can just take the Audi finance, pick up the additional discount and then cancel it within 14 days if you want to pay cash. Cheers

Absolutely! Audi clearly don't publicise it, but it's something that the sales guys will begrudgingly admit too. I don't think they get their 'finance' commission if you cancel it before 6 months, so not exactly something for them to shout about! If you're running through the comparison sites then check out orangewheels and broad speed too. Car file also come up trumps sometimes. I've bought my last two audi's through carwow though. Latest deal through Salisbury who were great. Appreciate the advice Badger. Off to the local dealer after lunch to check a few cars out, look at colours and to obtain a copy of the finance docs. Will spec one exactly how we want if we can pull a 21% discount on finance and pay it out in the cooling off period. Thinking Misano red with silver leather right now, with a few options it would be a lovely family car.

That will looking cracking. They are lovely cars. I've stepped down from the A6 to S4 as just kept feeling like the car was just too big for the majority of things we needed it for. Otherwise the bi tdi would have been next on my list. The S4 is a lovely car, but does feel like a marked step down in interior quality from the A6. Fortunately the engine and size are the key reasons I went for it and on that front it ticks all the boxes! Spec the lighting pack on the A6. It's a few hundred quid but makes an enormous difference to the look/quality feel especially at night. I've had a BiTdi Allroad for about six months now. I'm just abut to chop it in for a new A6 BiTdi avant, mainly because the standard seats are crap, and the 'AllRoad' feature is largely redundant for what I need – ought to try a Jag or something else but I'm pretty much a diehard quattro fan. I actually find the 'tech' stuff pretty useless. The SatNav in particular is crap, compared to a TomTom. The steering is weird-feeling. The positive bits just about make up for frustrating bits.

What irks me most about it is the weird verbalisations of the instructions. Hence the display abbreviation for Manchester Airport – "MCR Airport" – is actually spoken by the system as "MCR Airport". ANd using that rotary knob is a faff compared to a touch screen. But that said I'm still ordering another one. I think this is the fastest car I've owned and the most economical by a looong way. But the standard seats are a grim place to sit for any length of time.

I find most modern cars give very little feedback which means it takes longer to learn to feel your way. Once you have come to grips with the steering you then instinctively know the limits without being able to feel them as such. Audis do seem to be one of the worst offenders when it comes to feel.

In Nav, Settings, you can choose reduced instructions, which then only gives the actual instructions but no street names. The rotary know is not ideal but with the touch pad (assuming you have the 8" screen) and handwriting recognition it is actually very good.Yertis said:

Mine's got the touch pad down by the gear lever but not used it yet as I only picked it up last night.I suspect it's not going to be as economical to run as my 61 plate A5 3.0 TDi largely because of the bloody awesome noise it makes when you mash the accelerator pedal.
I'll take some pics when it's not raining or dark.
That airport naming thing is daft, it's not even the IATA tag name that baggage tags use (eg MAN for Manchester). May be they do it knowing that someone will change it's name, often. I guess the most important thing is that it gets you there.

Failing on the pics thing but just over a month and 800 miles into owning the car and I'm loving it. Averaging just over 40mpg according to the computer which seems about right from fuel receipts. Mostly commuting and one long trip to deepest Leicestershire.
Have to be a bit careful with the loud pedal - even though it's only a little quicker to 60 than the A5 it keep surprising me.
The tyres it came with - Bridgestone Turzana - are a massive improvement over the Pirelli Cinturato the A5 had. Significantly less under-steer at lower speeds and the A6 is so sharp into bends at higher speeds it took a while to get used to and I had to back of the steering on bits of road I know really well!
Pondering winter tyres but might put that off until we see some weather - our A3 is having winters on it this year so not a huge issue if the current tyres aren't good enough.
