Any Audi A6 Diesel BiDi (twin) Turbo owners?
Discussion
I put some new tyres on mine (AllRoad BiTdi) this weekend and the handling is much improved, for two reasons I think. First, no quattro I've ever owned has felt well when the tread is low, tramlining being a particular issue – with new tyres this is gone, for the time being. Secondly, having the tyres inflated correctly. I didn't realise (and evidently neither did Audi, it having just been serviced) that not only do the 20" tyres run quite a high pressure but also they run higher front than back.
Much happier with the car now.
BTW on the way home the 'low tyre pressure' warning came to life, checked pressures OK then cancelled this in the MMI – need to learn how this works, for curiosity.

Check the pressures and then go to the 'car' section of the MMI checks and service and reset the tyre pressure. My only gripe is that I have one tyre that loses pressure every couple of weeks (quite common with low profiles) but the pressure monitor only pings when it gets very low, had hoped it would be a tad more sensitive. It's not common. It is either wheel lip corrosion, a porous alloy, a faulty valve or a puncture... and it's worth getting it fixed.
I kept getting this on my C6 and wrecked two tyres as a result of them getting too low (no pressure sensors fitted). Basically the wheel lip paint had been worn away and the air was leaking through the alloy material and between the tyre and the alloy. I got the wheels fully refurbished (Paint It near Billericay) and never lost 1psi to air leakage again.

It's a nine month old RS4 and the wheels are fine, it loses a couple of psi every 500 miles or so which is ok in my book with low profiles, just have to be more diligent which is no bad thing. It is either wheel lip corrosion, a porous alloy, a faulty valve or a puncture... and it's worth getting it fixed.

A modern tyre should not leak any air. 3 of yours don't, 1 does. That isn't right.
If the car is that new, I would get Audi to change the valve and possible re-seat the tyre.
The other 3 tyres do lose air, just not at the same rate as the NSR. I've never heard of any tyre that doesn't lose pressure, but maybe I'm taking you too literally. I will get Audi to look at it when it's in for service. If the car is that new, I would get Audi to change the valve and possible re-seat the tyre.

Oh FFS here we go...
The BiTDI is not affected. Even a cheat routine wouldn't get them through the US emissions test

I mean technically how it works, how does the car sense that a tyre is soft?
Some systems have pressure monitors on the wheel, inside the pressurised space between alloy and tyre, but most cars use the ABS sensors to spot wheels that are rotating at a slightly different speed (due to deflating tyre).I was sceptical of this system but it has spotted tyres with low pressures for me in the past. Not sure exactly how sensitive it is though.
