Don't suppose anybody has a parts diagram (with parts numbers) for the rear brakes on a C6 RS6. Just need to identify a part and see if it's an easy swap or if I should get it done at the next service. Part is a rear disc cover plate if anyone has swapped one out before and has any hints.

I'm not holding my breath for the dealer offering to do it at a reasonable price after quoting me £250 in labour to change the front pads during the service. Seems a bit excessive when the car is already up on the ramp with the wheels off.

The lotus (and porsche) had a great parts website at DeRoure but I can't seem to find anything similar for Audi.

You don't need to remove the rear caliper to take the disc off but you do need the Electronic Handbrake disabling via VAGCOM or a similar maintenance software program so that you can get the rear pads out first.

Cheers for the link, exactly what I was after.

It's to replace the disc shield between the disc and the hub. Looks like the disc might need to come off to access the bolts. Item 12 in the link below.

http://www.partsbase.org/audi/audi-rs6-rs6-plus-av...

The pads are for the front which should be as easy as any other vehicle.

That diagram is for the Ceramic brakes but the part numbers are correct for the steel brakes (they used the same diagram for both), so the backplate doesn't actually look like that for steel brakes. It's flat for a start and it takes 4 bolts not 2 (see pic at bottom).

The back-plate came loose on mine during my trackday so I replaced it about week ago and know the procedure.

Release the EPB using the special maintenance software (VAGCOM etc)
Remove the caliper piston ONLY (not the carrier)
Remove the pads
Undo the grub-screw
Remove the disc - it's a tight squeeze to get it past the carrier
Remove the old plate
Fit New one

Should take about 30 minutes, we had issues with the garages software releasing the EPB so took 45mins.

Another good site for parts and assembly diagrams
http://audi.7zap.com/en/rdw/

Not necessarily relevant to this thread but 7zap is useful in its own right as it has model years up to 2016 unlike Partsbase which seems to stop at ~2012/13

Cheers

Mine is rattling around so I suspect it's separated at the bolts and probably only held on by one or two.

when all 4 fail the plate rests on the lip of the disc (the red circle in my pic) and it sound like your brakes have seized, such a loud noise from such a small contact!
