The day i picked-up my R8 V10+ last year, have since installed a Capristo exhaust so it sounds like a sports car too!

Funnily enough my previous motor was an A45.

Very nicesmile
The v10's do sound good with a decent exhaust, brother ubbs has tubi on his gallardo and it sounds mental.

Aye, there's not much comparison, it has a gearbox the A45 can only dream about. I did enjoy my time with the merc, but it is a bit one-dimensional. The R8 is my last hurrah before I retire into auto-motive pipe 'n slippers, buy a jag or rangie and waft about in comfort smile

i did test drive an A45 myself and was amazed at how poor value, sluggish and disconnected it seemed to be, and I don't mind a barge at all! Apologies to guy above who has one and loves it; it was just my opinion.

Yes the s tronic has the merc dct licked! Although the latest software updates have improved it some what but it's still very lazy in 1st and 2nd something to do with torque limits or so I'm told, that said you don't hear of many failed boxes and propshafts, the other thing I don't like is you can't go up and down the box via the gear stick, a bit of a pain
when your trying to drive it manually round roundabouts.

My V10 S6. To and from work has never been so much fun. My 5yr old daughter loves it and always wants to go fast. She makes faces and ner ner ner noises as we overtake people.

The owner of the local petrol station and I have become quite close.

My S1, Currently running around 320bhp - with what is essentially a golf R/S3 drivetrain.
absolute hoot - although being 22 insurance is a bit painful.

Love these and I bet that shifts nicely cool

Really like the idea of something small and chuck able but with plenty of pace like that thumbup I liked the TTS we had but it ran out of puff really quickly in standard guise.

The Wife's S3 Black Edition, would benefit from coilovers to sort out the ride height but all in all a nice place to be;

Drove it back to back with a auto S3 8v and found it a lot more involving. Its an expensive car for its size when you consider a heavy optioned S1 is the same as a mid spec S3, think there is a strange stigma in the UK that bigger cars = better, although this makes them quite rare which I love. They also have the potential to blow away standard s3's and Golf R's with a few mods.

Interestingly a lot of owners have come from a TTS, lovely bits of kit!

I looked into one and they are pretty pricey but like you I really appreciate their rareness and I find a smaller car really appealing after having bigger and heavier cars that just feel like blunt instruments.

I keep lusting after the S1 a lot, enjoy yours.

I really like the S1 too! I'm thinking when I next change I want something lighter and with more driver involvement, so the manual S1 looks super appealing. Would miss the V8 soundtrack of my S5 though.

You're doing well to have one at 22 j8bbk thumbup
