i find it a bit odd that the (petrol) S4 doesn't get as much love. Don't see that many around. Everyone goes on and on about the RS4, and it is cool don't get me wrong, but is it worth the extra for most people? I get that the S4 is softer, but to me that's a bit of an attraction rather than a negative. I am tossing up between a S4 avant and a C43 estate, when the dealerships open again.
If you replace the 4 with a 6 I am seeing the same. Okay not as raw as the RS6 but for everyday dog duties incl. towing (not seen any used RS6 with a factory fitted tow bar yet) it seems a better bet. Question is would I always be wanting RS instead of S?

Also you can get <1yr old vs >4yr old for £50k with all the digi dash etc...

Speaking of this, where are all the old B7 S4 and RS4 convertibles? I used to see them around a lot. I know the old S4 had a timing chain issue that was a 5 figure bill and the RS4 convertible wasn’t the sharp drivers tool but you still see plenty of B7 RS4s Avants and saloons on the road, the others seem to have disappeared

I am much preferring the 2 year old S4 over the 5 year old RS4 I had. Steering is actually far better in the S4, sounds decent and performs pretty well. Fuel bill far lighter on the wallet!

Decent dog wagon too which was the reason I traded down from my M3.

Just doesn’t look as good as the RS4

Hi this is my new (to me) 68 plate audi s5 sportback. It only had 9300 miles on it when i bought it last week. It comes with virtual cockpit, black leather with deviated stitching and privacy glass. I bought it from preston audi and very impressed with them!

Real q car appeal. This has aged well, less shouty than the RS6 obviously, but still potent. Looks to be a very clean example.

Thanks, yeah it's pretty mint all round. So important to view used cars in flesh. Has a couple niggles to sort (mirror motor, ball joint but nothing major).

Can't believe some 100k miles RS6s still going for 40-50k. Got this less than half that price with much less miles (68k). And it's only a couple tweaks from similar performance. Mostly identical car.
