anyone had the black and silver alloys on their Golf R refurbed successfully? I hear they might be a pain of a job due to the part-paint?

The silver is not paint it is diamond cut then lacquered. They can be re-done but are expensive and not as long lasting as an own finish. Also, because it is shaving metal off the rim it may never look quite the same and can only be done a certain amount of times before no more metal can be safely removed

Nope, can be repaired to an excellent standard. I can vouch for both of Lepsons and Diamond alloys.

Paint It in Billericay did my Audi split rims, with diamond cut faces. Did an amazing job from what I thought was scrap.

I'm in the north west. A new wheel can't be much more than £200 surely?

A standard dc shark fin alloy for my s3 was £530, and I'm in the trade, normally £700+.

I wouldn't mind but I own a wheel refurb company, but made such a mess of it , it was unfixable.

VWFS charge for a damaged wheel is much cheaper than a refurb anywhere would be, let alone Lepsons or Excel so I'd do nothing and pay up at the end of the lease period.

check the fair wear and tear guide - you might be OK with scrapes up to 10cm anyway. I paid £85 a wheel from a local firm who did a polish job rather than a full repaint. Good enough.

No, they don't do any work on returned vehicles. Even quite badly damaged ones.

Money goes straight into their pockets and the car goes to auction (where minor cosmetic damage makes virtually zero difference to sale price).
