What is the best real discount anybody has been offered on an RS6 recently? By real, I mean without linking it to Audi finance, just a cash price to buy the car or use a different funder.
Also, how do the new lights compare with the LED units on offer when the car first came out two years ago.

You can see why these cars gets vandalised if left out in a London Street as all it does is breed resentment amongst the poor.
It works the other way round, really; the sort of person who'd vandalise a nice car just isn't the sort of person who anyone is going to want to have working for them, so they'll never get to afford the nice cars.

Why would anyone feel resentment at my cars? I didn't steal them, or steal the money to buy them, I just planned my career well, got the qualifications that it needed, and worked my way up to the point where I was paid enough to buy the cars that I want.

I honestly can't understand how you can see that that is something to be resented.

My Audi A5 got stolen a few weeks ago. I had a good think about it and came to the conclusion that these people must have the genuine belief that they haven't had the same opportunities in life and, therefore, it's within their right to take from others because it's somehow 'fair'.

People are remarkably good at blaming external factors, because it's easier than taking accountability for your own actions.

Anywho, as people have said, the likes of CarWow reveal dealers are willing to give around 12% off as cash and up to 15% if you opt for finance.

I'm hoping to bite the bullet and order next week, but have been told the wait could be 6 months! Is this true? I'd also like to order one of the Audi Exclusive colours; does that set the deliery time back a lot?

Mine is linked to finance so cant comment.

Not tried the older LEDs but I can confirm the new LEDs are fantastic. Leaving the car in full beam they just do their thing. Its really cool how they dip some of the light but not all when a car approaches or when you come up behind another car, you can see for miles even on "A" roads when cars are coming towards you. I cant praise them enough. Full beam range is more than enough every when nipping on a bit. its going to be horrible if / when they fail in a few years though I bet Audi dealers wont have a Scooby!!

The two things that seem to set build slots back significantly are exclusive parts - including paint jobs - and spec'ing the ceramic brakes. 6months sounds about right, but expect even longer if you spec both!

And not directed at you hondansx, but as for the levels of discount - I don't get why anyone would choose to not go the finance route to get the extra £4-6k (whatever the current level is) and then just clear it off a week or two after taking delivery. There are no consequences and you achieve the higher discount.

i absolutely agree with this 100% - only thing is an extra credit search on your file but if you were sensitive to this then it probably isnt the best time to be buying a £80k car. IMO

Thanks for the feedback, albeit sorry to hear it! 6 months is very difficult for someone as impatient as me.

I've been looking for a while now and haven't seen a single car with ceramics in the classifieds. Has anyone got a car with them on?

My car took less than 8 weeks to arrive. They did quite 12 weeks when I ordered it. Worth speaking with a dealer

if you are keen to get the car as soon as possible but want a new one, try speaking to Broadspeed - they may be able to locate a car that is spec amendable and still get you a decent level of discount. The only thing I am not 100% sure on, is that if you change to some exclusive options/ceramics it may set the order back to rear of the queue again.

As for ceramics, there is a lot of contention as to whether they are needed (loads of posts on that sort of thing), so if you go with them, you'll need to wait unfortunately.
It took me 14mths to get my car - 9 of that was due to ceramics shortage pushing my original build slot out, which meant that the car was due to land just as the face-lift version was announced. Luckily, the dealer rolled the order over to the FL version but it meant another wait!? still, worth it in the end - awesome do-it-all car!

To be honest i appreciate ceramics probably make little difference, but for the same reason with my GT3, i just think they look incredible and the lack of brake dust is also great. With a car like the RS6, which is never going to see the track, i imagine over the long-term the ceramics start to pay you back due to less pad/disc wear over a conventional steel setup.

Pop down to Castle Combe when it's the VAG specific track day and there'll be some pounding round smile C6 RS6s also spotted doing some pretty full on laps too.

It's nice to have the option of being able to do repeated stops without fade, and certainly on older models of Audi the steel setups have tended to get weak pretty quick if you ask much of them. Our S5 on standard brakes is actually very good for road use and it only seems to be trackday hooligans that feel the need to go for upgraded options.

Biggest issue with ceramics for me, as a buyer down the line, is that the parts don't get any cheaper as the car ages, but you're more likely to need to change them than the 1st owner! I've looked up ceramic discs and pads prices for people in the past and you're always well into 4 figures if you happen to need a full set.

As a used buy I'd probably slightly favour a car without ceramics, but for the right car it wouldn't be a deal breaker. It's just so difficult to assess the wear on them as to really confirm if they need changing they have to come off the car for a front and back inspection and weighing if none of the cracks exceed limits.

I think you make a very good point there Adrian regarding being the 2nd or 3rd owner. However, there are companies such as Sicom who can refurbish discs to be brand new for far less than OEMs. As this market develops, i imagine the likes of Brembo and AP Racing etc. will start to have new product lines targeting owners in that situation.

Hiya

Yep, agreed that the aftermarket options will come along eventually. I can recall mention of aftermarket replacements being available for the C6 RS6, but not seen any mention of anyone using them, nor can I recall the company name. Only know one C6 RS6 owner who has had to buy new discs and he went for OEM.

They do certainly look much funkier wink

There's a guy on her Schermerton(?) who supplies OEM quality discs for various cars. You don't have to pay 5k although i wouldn't tell the wife that dynamic pack cost 10k-then again mine wouldn't ask, she would look at at RS6 and think 'estate car'
