RS6 price discounts
Discussion
I was very close to ordering one of these but just lost my bottle with the amount of cars around and how short the lead times are for factory orders. I was going to get rid of our X5 and have the RS6 as the family car and something I could also really enjoy. Have now decided to keep the X5 and am picking up a 997 GTS tomorrow.
Great cars but I just couldn't stomach the depreciation....fair play to you all!

Yep, I understand what you mean. You dont want to lose so much on depreciation on a new car. Great cars but I just couldn't stomach the depreciation....fair play to you all!
The GTS wont lose much. Good move.

The Misano red one at Birmingham has dropped to £52,995.
About time! If you are a lady or gent in the market for an RS6 would you A) Spec one to 85k pay 72k at 5% Apr and have a brand new never used car or.......B) spend 57k on a 20k mileage 3 year multiple owner car not in your ideal spec with Apr of 12%......hmmmmmmmAll the 57/58k 13 plate cars seem like a bad choice....only in my opinion of course :-)
Some folks would think I would prefer to get the one thats £52k.

Fantastic !!! Its a hard 500 odd miles to gently run it in....... Im up to 1300 and giving it some welly !!
Bet you had a great drive back to the Motherland.
Yep, I was very restrained coming back up the road... turned on the cruise and wafted up the hill. I did push the loud pedal coming out of a slip road back onto the M74 and holy mother of moly it can certainly shift!!! Still, that's 450 miles or so on the clock so I'll be able to push it a bit more in a couple of weeks Love it - so pleased I pulled the trigger on this car Bet you had a great drive back to the Motherland.
This thread could get expensive !
I looked at an RS6 2 yrs ago but could not justify one at the time, so I could a C63 estate when they were doing those crazy lease deals
Now that my kids are getting bigger (3 under 5) means that we need a bigger car and an RS6 would be perfect
I got a poverty spec C63 on lease, and I remember that for every option you ticked you paid for outright (i.e. MB assigned no value to these options after the 2 yr period)
As I knew I was handing the keys back I felt that was too rich
Through this forum I have got 5 carwow quotes (thanks!). For a poverty spec car I am getting offered £11.5k off, but if I spend £8k on options the saving on increases to £12.5k
So at face value the discounts (in terms of %) are best on base cars
However, are there differences in GFV?
For instance if the £8k options gets you a further £1k saving, and a £3k higher GFV then that becomes more appealing
Any advice is appreciated !

There's usually a big difference between the GFV and 'real' value of the car after three years. Also, the higher the GFV, the more interest you're paying each month because the loan isn't reducing as fast. For instance if the £8k options gets you a further £1k saving, and a £3k higher GFV then that becomes more appealing
Setting GFVs is a balancing act between too low (higher monthly cost for customers, smaller interest income for finance co.) and too high (customer doesn't have enough equity (actual value minus GFV) for deposit on next car, or equity might even be negative so finance co loses money). But if you want a higher GFV, try asking for one!
Percentage discount on base cars is better because amount of VWFS finance contribution doesn't increase with options.

the base car looks good and the discount I got was on all the extras. The thing is that I may or may not keep the car in 2 yrs time but what I do know is that the extras I speced up made the car special for me and every time I drive/look at it go wow. I would not buy that car without those 'extras' as I look for them on every car i buy now. - although e63 amg didnt need a sports exhaust !I looked at an RS6 2 yrs ago but could not justify one at the time, so I could a C63 estate when they were doing those crazy lease deals

Thanks for this - am in 2 minds on the 21 wheels, but I do want the Sports Exhaust. I also think I will get Parking package and privacy glass. So just a few options
One thing on the Panromics sunroof - on some range rovers you get this beautiful full glass roof with no interruptions. As an upgrade you can choose a tilt sunroof which has a division in the glass (same as the RS6)
That seems a shame to me; for those who have it is it a must-have (especially for little ones)

Pano roof, parking package, privacy glass all great options. Sports exhaust a must unless going aftermarket. I went red calipers and carbon pack plus DRc too.So just a few options

I prefer 20 wheels so bought 2 sets
I run a retail business and often like to go into other retail industries to see how they treat customers and see what I can learn from...
My local Audi garage has a used RS6 for sale. I called up to come and have a look at it and was told please do. So I arrived an hr later to be told by someone else that it was sold last week and thus not on display, and no I could not have a look at it
This was after waiting 15 minutes to speak to someone, as all the sales guys seemed very busy behind their desks
I had my 4 yr old with me, so we decided to go to the BMW garage
I sat in an M3, M5 and a M6 GC. Checking boot out, and putting my kid in the back seat to get a sense of how this compares to my C63
20 minutes in and no one spoke to me. And this was 3pm on a weekday, so not busy at all
Eventually a 'Genius' came out and was very helpful, and we sat in an M5 and he gave me a card to call him for a test drive.
But I could not believe how apathetic the older sales guys were
Compare that to my experience in a watch shop I was last in six months ago and was looking at getting a Patek. A week ago I went back in and the same salesman recognised me and immediately remembered what I was after previously - unprompted and with no notes.
He was so much slicker than the car dealers its unfair to categorise them both as in 'sales'.
Carwow is great - everyone loves a bargain. But because car dealers are on the whole so poor, price becomes the only defining attribute to where you buy. Which is a real shame, as it should be an enjoyable experience !

I would agree re carwow and taking the lowest price within reason. I've previously purchased 3 VAG cars from the same dealer within 18 months. It didn't improve the service when something went wrong. More recently I was offered a set of floor mats as an incentive on another VAG car. BMW were worse. I had to threaten proceedings to get them to resolve ongoing faults (lemon) with their flagship model. My experience is that the smaller dealerships are better. Just hope the car doesn't develop faults and ownership should be relatively pain free.My local Audi garage has a used RS6 for sale. I called up to come and have a look at it and was told please do. Your watch story is similar to going into a good bar and after just one order, the bar person knows exactly what you had. Great skill to have. I'm happy to tip for that
