Quick one - fog lights in grills. I assume the styling packs deleted these but i can see some with Quattro and fog lights some without? Is there a fog light delete option. Popping to audi today as the porsche has sold this weekend, thinking

Musts:
Daytona
21 (Titanium)
privacy glass
sports exhaust
parking pack

debating:

Pano roof - I have this on my X5, it is nice but not sure i find it essential
Aluminum styling pack - Looks great but for £800 not so sure - car looks awesome as is
Keyless entry - again have it on X5 and like it but the Rs6 has push button and electric tail gate as standard right?

Thanks

Right.. I just walked into Walton Audi and said I'd like to buy an RS6 please, we spent 10mins talking about spec and then he quoted a crazy high per month. I asked about discount and he said "only northern dealers will give you that I can't help you" he then said also there is a 5 month wait for an RS6.

He could not have been less helpful!! Anyone know a good dealer I can talk to?

Honestly, try the Carwow website.

I tried them for an RS6 about 8 weeks ago and funnily enough the Performance variant came out with a higher discount. I was only interested in a car without any options added. If I remember the discount was about 14% and they give you quotes from up to 5 dealers and 2 of them were firmly in the South.

It might just be not great timing with your particular dealer.

Just to clarify, when I've gone back and had a look, the best discount was 14.1% from Hatfield Audi but was dependent on taking their finance which I would have done anyway. This was at the end of February for a brand new car to order.

Well today has been a game of two halves. As above Walton Audi basically ignored my request to buy an RS6. I then rang west London Audi and said "Are you doing the big discounts in RS6's" they said yes come down now. I walked in, within the hour I had an RS6 with 15.5% discount. Top quality service and an awesome RS floor to look around, really impressed with them.

So excited, I little bit in shock but I've purchased a new in stock:

Daytona grey
Dynamic package
Matt styling pack
Parking pack
Pano roof
Heated front and rear
Heads up display
Sports exhaust
21 titanium wheels
Privacy glass

Get it in a few days!!!! Just goes to show its one name "Audi" but run by completely different people

Should i be expecting anything like a free RS driving day or something? I'm not expecting anything but don't want to miss out. I think they are throwing in a free rubber mat for the boot (Cocker spaniel zone) and free auto glym but didnt push for anything else

At 15.5% off I doubt you'll get anything else! Given the rubber boot cover (£90) and some autoglym I think you've done well on the deal. Funny, I've got 2 cocker spaniels - must be standard form of transport for speedy spaniels... thumbup

Might be too late now for you, but the fog lamps you see on the A6/RS's is Adaptive cruise control (ACC) radar modules not fog lamps, quite handy as most dealers miss that in adverts

Are Matrix LEDs standard on RS6s?

If not, they should be on everyone's 'Must Have' list.

Standard issue on post-facelift cars.

I can see what you are trying to say but I don't see it that way. The only reason you have equity is because you have paid the same amount of money for a much cheaper car. Therefore of course you have something left. A more expensive car is more expensive if you keep it forever. But if you want it for 3 yrs what is cheaper? Here is what was running through my mind. Might be wrong but worth a go

2013 plate cars are on average 57-60k (mixture of kit but nothing monumental). New cars can be had for 66k (no kit) 70k (Some kit) 75k+ (lots of kit). Lets take middle of the road 70k.

Option one - purchase a 57k car 25k deposit 32k loan (6.7% APR?) = monthly payment of c£1030k - Car is worth £34k in 3 years. So you have paid 25k + 37k loan = 62k. less equity (34k) you have when you sell it that is a cost of £28k for 3 yrs of RS6 add on service and non warranty parts 4k? = total 32k cost to own an RS6 for the 3rd to 6th year of life. If you go down the forever route it has cost you 62k for a 3 yr old rs6

Option two - Purchase the 70k car new, 25k deposit and Finance 45k paying £400 per month (PCP rate). Car is worth lets say 47k (trade in value based on sale prices of 2013 plates now (57k)?) as there will be higher supply also. 25k + £14.4k (400*36) = 39.4k. GFV is 36k so you sell it pay of Audi and have 11k cash back. Net result is 39.4k less 11k equity = 28.4k cost of ownership + 2k for tyres? = 30k!! If you go down the keep forever route it will cost you 80k + as you now need to finance the maount left to pay e.g. the GFV.

So what is the moral of the story here. My man maths (might be wrong) suggests that if you want to own an RS6 for 3 yrs and move on then new is cheaper!!!!!!! If you want to have a forever car then a newer one is more expensive as obviously full term Finance costs more

Thoughts?
You are spot on! Used makes no sense over a new one!

Does anyone know why Audi don't use the 7 speed twin clutch gearbox in the RS6? I've heard that it's really just an auto box although I could be wrong ...

I believe it's an 8 speed ZF, not a dual clutch due to the amount of power and torque but it's still pretty quick and smooth.

Torque mainly - although they've moved away from s-tronic on the new B9 S4 models towards the 8 speed torque converter auto as well. I suspect the number that've been changed due to failures has made them rethink their logic in favour of a virtually indestructible ZF box!

The ZF box is the best out there, right now. In Sport mode, it is 7 speed, as it never gets into 8th gear.

One thing for sure as the RS6 currently stands you do not want to buy one in Apr 2017 onwards as the new VED 6 year rules are very significant. Bye bye cheap lease deals for any performance car

It'll be an approx 60% increase over 5 years, but in cash terms it's 'only' going up by less than £1,200. Given option prices and depreciation I can't see the deals changing that much.

First year change is the biggest difference so pre-registered may look more appealing.

But the perennial contract hire deals will be £100pcm more

Agreed it's buttons to someone who buys these cars new - however for those who try to sneak a cheap deal like the recent S8 or M5 a couple of years ago it's a massive % increase
