Here's my average....town and B road driving.

13.4mpg over 610miles on super unleaded?

That's near on £240 cost to do that distance or nearly £0.40 per mile on fuel alone!!! fk me.

4000 miles and my average is 21mpg running around 700bhp. Wife can see 31mpg driving sensibly. Pretty impressive really.

Is that the C6 or C7?

My long term average in my b8.5 S4 is 19 something after 5000 miles. I'd say the RS6 looks positively frugal in comparison given the vast power advantage!

Can get high twenties in C7

Don't forget it's got cylinder de-activation

Drive it like Miss Daisy and it's ok.

Personally I couldn't care less....if you're bothered about cost of fuel in a RS6....it's not the car for you.

I have C7 too, on a run to alps 3 days after collection I got 19.9mpg on the way there over 820 miles.

On way back I got 16.3 and had an epic time

Good job I read the manual... Audi told me they are run in at factory. Manual says 2/3rds revs for 1000km (600miles of 4K revs?) then raise engine speed to 1500kms (900miles)....it is frustrating these things aren't prepped and ready to go....

The C5 was certainly run in hard before customers were delivered them

By the manufacturer, or just the delivery drivers and all involved in moving it from production line to dealership?!

No car is ever run in hard prior to delivery. Engines may be bench run for a decent work up (some, and not as many models as people think) but that is just part of the car - everything else benefits from bedding in too, from brakes to transmission. And driver wink

Didn't all the F40's go through significant track time to shake them all down?

Oops I've sparked the age old debate... I'll take it moderately I think is the answer then i cover both angles, have fun but also have mechanical sympathy. She's only done 200 miles and 170 were motorway. At least it's 600 miles and not 1,200 as in an M car that was a nightmare I drove to Europe and back just to get it done!! It's a shiny new toy and you're not allowed to play with it properly!

C7,

My old C6 (around 700bhp also) could not hit 20 never mind 30mpg

No idea. But a shakedown around Fiorano is not the same as running a car in properly, but each to their own - your car, do with it what you will smile

Motorway miles aren't ideal for running in. Mixed engine speeds and loads are what is required.

Come off the motorway and drive the A road that runs the same route.

I'm interested in a new RS6 but the best deal I can get is 14.2%

That is as near as dammit to the best out there (15% or thereabouts). Do it. Amazing cars - a real step up from the earlier versions.

Don't get the MPG interest. If that's your focus the RS6 isn't for you.

If you want, in my view, the best all rounder on the market jump on board and have some fun.

You are a long time dead.
