I'd save myself 5k and buy this instead

But this is all irrelevant because OP hasn't told us his budget, I paid £20k for mine, £20k that could of been spent better elsewhere, I can't comment for ones around the £11-14k range.

ive been a busy beaver and trying to form a view on the options which currently incude both the w211 e55 and the c6 s6....

theres no doubt that the e55 is the more petrol head choice but the 4wd of the audi plus the newer-ness of it cannot be ignored

neither of them sway me from their appearance alone... i find the audi too bland and the merc looks to un-amg like (unlike the later 63 variant)

there wont be much between them in terms of purchase price (im budgeting 14-15) and i dont care for insurance or fuel economy

neither will cripple me on the maintenance side as a c5 rs6 would so not much to call between them

i really need to drive both but it will be a while before i can get organised to do so plus the w211 seems a bit scarce

in standard guise which

- sounds better?
- has better quality interior (my benchmark here being e39/46 bmws and 90's pork ie hewn from granite)?
- has better creature comforts / mod cons (electric stuff, heated seats, xenons, sound/nav package)?
- better residuals?

Is an estate essential?

Theres a private sale CLS63 on Autotrader for £14,500 that looks good.

The C6 S6 is is very muted even under full chat. Some have deleted one of the resonators or the rear boxes. I had a non res Milltek on my saloon and it sounded epic.

Interior wise, it's one of the best I've been in. The seats are really comfortable and it's well built. A bit dated now though.

That 545i estate seems to be a freaking bargain!

Spec wise, I've seen them fully loaded. TV, heated/electric/memory seats, keyless entry with advance key, reverse camera, BOSE. It all depends on the individual car.

If you're selling one for £14-£15k then I'm on my way.

Spot on, 545i estate with warranty, 8 grand, ruddy hell, whats not to like?!!

Been seriously considering one myself tbh.

Interestingly the Audi S6 tweaked my curiosity, but I decided If I bought one, I'd always wished I saved up a bit more and bought the RS6, any RS6....or an RS4.

It's 100bhp down from the S6, though. Depends whether that's important or not.

Plus it's rwd. I've currently got a S320 CDI with a Brabus D6 chip in it too. My mate in his standard A5 3.0tdi quattro still left me off the lights this week. All I got was the traction control light flashing away.

An RS6 is the better car obviously but the C6 ones are still £25k upwards. Twice the price of an S6.

My C6 S6 - had it a few months and love it, I've had a few power barges (D2 S8, A8) and a R33 GTR, and this feel as quick as the R33 and much faster than the D2 S8.

Interior feels new, I've never bothered about navigation as google maps seems much better than any in car offering, so that doesnt concern me. The music/interface stuff is very easy to use, but I'd recommend getting one with bluetooth music (Audi AMI) as a factory option. The reversing camera is very useful and having a sprog means the in built blinds are a godsend on strong sun days.

Given what I use it for, the only thing I'd change it for would be an RS6 ( a 700bhp one....), which might be a possibility based on some possible surprise money that might turn up. If not, then she's a keeper, especially with petrol heading to £1/l.

Looking good. Hoping to see one this weekend. Any tips on decent rubber? Contisports?

Ive got continentals on mine and have been very happy and stuck with them for four years.

Make sure they have the correct load rating of 98XL. I purchased mine from an Audi main dealer and stupidity assumed they knew what they were doing however the tyres were just 96 rated and ripped through to the canvas in 6 weeks or so.

AMI gives you a physical connection rather than A2DP (bluetooth audio) although there is an aftermarket plug-in that makes AMI bluetooth capable.

If you don't already have AMI there is a kit from Dension that gives you all of USB, iPod and A2DP connectivity and works well.

Add part no: 4F0 051 510 J to 4E0 035 785 and off you go - you may need to update your software prior to removing the cd changer

So this into this
