So how real is this carbon build up issue and how many people have had to have their engines de coked
The car im seeing has about 70k miles with a full ash but I don't know whether it's mainly stop start miles or motorway
Any things I should be on the lookout for other than what's commonly reported?

I wouldn't be massively concerned by the engine de-coking.The car im seeing has about 70k miles with a full ash but I don't know whether it's mainly stop start miles or motorway

Plenty of very high mileage 5.2l V10s out there. 170k miles seems to be quite common without de-coking.
A major service can be expensive. Would be worth checking when the next one is. £550ish.
Other than that I've had to unplug the sunroof drains a few times manually. 10 second job but they can clog up quite easily. ECU is (I think?) in the passenger footwell which is in your flooding danger zone
Good luck and keep us updated on what you think

Does anyone know the part number for the AMI unit as I want swap my CD for me
Thanks
4E0 035 785 B (or F) is the AMI. You may need to update the software first using the CD.Thanks
The following is a link to a very helpful blog on retro fitting a lot of stuff including AMI to the C6 http://a6retrofit.com/ami-retrofit-audi-music-inte...

i hope so too... couple of niggles...
what might be preventing the tailgate from opening fully remotely? the catch is released but it does seem to pull up
when closing, it all works as should
also, whats the price for pads and discs from tps or audi or do you guys normally go after market??

It's barely raising itself off the catch so I am wondering whether it could be rleated to failing struts? Not sure whether that would explain why the lid doesn't seem to open when the swithc on the drivers side door is pressed.
I expect it more likely an electrical not mechanical issue?

As above most issues with the auto tailgate i have seen have been with setup rather than fault; here's a handy youtube clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Gqlo4Xyyfwwhat might be preventing the tailgate from opening fully remotely? the catch is released but it does seem to pull up

With regards to brakes there are a couple of options.
1. Dont get your hands dirty. Audi fixed price servicing is £595 for front discs and pads
2. Source them yourself. Circa £80 per disc for pagids (genuine Audi set i purchased were ATE) and pads are also around £80
One modification i would recommend after a month or so of driving is the VW Phaeton brake duct setup which costs around £100 from TPS. Very easy install with just a minor alteration to the lower mounting bolt hole and they appear to be making quite a difference to brake temperatures.
Parts numbers are
3D0 615 447 G
3D0 615 448 G
3D0 615 311 C
3D0 615 312 C

Just bought this little beauty and was very impressed on the drive home - an effortless and comfortable drive.
It has Adaptive Cruise Control, which I'm reliably informed does work by the trader, but which I cannot get to work. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong - I pull the cruise control stalk towards me, get the 3 dots on the central cluster display, then hit the "set" button on the end of the CC stalk, but I just keep getting the message "ACC Not Available"? Am I a muppet, or is it faulty?

Is that Canfield Cars?
I have twice arrange to go and see a car with them, driven down to see them to be told "Sorry, it is right at the back and I am on my own so can't get it out, are you worried about a test drive?"
Seem nice enough down there and they have some nice cars, but strange after booking to go and see a car they haven't had it ready.....twice.

I would suggest it's a fault as its a simple system to use, I've read of the inbuilt heater failing costing a couple of hundred to fix.
I have brembo pads and pagid discs fitted at the moment.

I think the OE setup was brembo and the pads are still available from them however the discs aren't listed anymore and my OE replacements had ATE on them. im a pretty keen amateur spanner monkey so will give the brakes a go myself... are the audi pads pagid or textar and are the discs always ate??

Yes it was, had to wait quite a while for the test drive and they did have to move 4 cars to get it out (if you were after one at the back, they would have had to have moved 6 or 7!), but very easy to deal with - even let me and the wife go out in it on our own for 45 minutes, no questions asked. I did tell them in advance I was coming, but not sure that made much difference!

Thanks, I've had a re-read of the manual and it seems I may be one position out on the stalk when trying to turn it on (middle is on and back is off, forward is resume, I thought middle was off), so I'll give it another go and see if it was just me being a muppet.RC1 said:

EDIT: Nope, just been out for a spin, it definitely won't turn on. From reading around the net, this can cost anything from £250 to £2,500 to fix, so should be interesting to see how the trader plays it.
Anyone know a cheap/easy way to get fault codes read, this would be definitive proof if it's faulty and should give an indication as to why (out of alignment or faulty heating circuit)?
