My wife has a 2003 A4 convertible with the Bose stereo, the volume control is very temperamental and tends to turn the volume right down of you touch it.

If I replace the head unit with an aftermarket one will the Bose stuff cause any issues?
I'd like to get something that looks similar but has Bluetooth/iPod connectivity.

The other option would be to repair the existing head unit if possible.

Personally I'd go for a 2nd hand unit to replace the existing one and add one of Dension's little boxes of tricks behind to keep the dash looking neat.

Aftermarket stereos in these inevitably fit poorly and look cheap.

I'd agree I'm sure you'd find one on ebay from a brakers yard somewhere

Fair enough, she was quite worried about it not looking standard. I'll have a trawl about for another one.

Which head unit is it? I've got a few older ones in a box in the cellar.

I'm offshore just now, I'll have a look when I get back.
