Too late for this weekend, but if you look on eBay for VCDS cables and software, you can pick them up for around £50 and these will give you the full diagnostic report from the car's ECUs and can be very informative. The level of detail has to be seen to be believed - it can even tell you which interior bulbs aren't working properly.

Awesome, thanks mate! Does the software run on any OS? My old BMW e39 software only worked on Windows Vista, I still have a cheap, old laptop with Vista and the diagnostic programmes for that car...

Definitely runs on Windows 10, not sure about earlier versions or Mac.
