- Surprisingly good damping - coming from an M5 I was expecting an edge to the ride but even in Dynamic mode it seems to ride the Surrey potholes very well.
- Flipping complicated MMI. No doubt I will get used to it but meanwhile I will try not to crash.
It's quite comfortable comparing to more sporty cars. I still think MMI is complicated, too many menus and options to go through while driving. Interior looks great but I wasn't brave enough to choose it. Enjoy the car and I will be seeing you on Surrey roads :-)- Flipping complicated MMI. No doubt I will get used to it but meanwhile I will try not to crash.
ok so just so I can build my knowledge of better car shopping.
I know these S8 lease deals are finished however where did people find them? Surely not on the audi website?
Are there a couple of main leasing sites I should constantly keep an eye out for great deals?
The main one I tend to look at regularly is freedom contracts. any others?

You can also sign up to a few brokers newsletters and then you will get emails with latestes offers. If you scan top link, you will find which companies are most popular.
I understand that they also have Facebook sites and add deals there, but I don't use FB.

If you ever need VE103 for travel abroad, I suggest you contact directly fleet management at VWFS. I filled in the form on WVFS website a week ago and only today it was forwarded to proper fleet team. I put date of travel as 20/04 to make sure they do this before Bank Holiday but if it was real date, I doubt I would get it on time.
It's the same with calling VWFS, they won't be able to help you outside of 9.00-17.30, Mon-Fri. Only fleet team can manage these PCH agreements.

Just a quick update and a question.
What a truly fabulous car. I think I like it more than the M5 and so do my kids, although that may be a function of my stage in life and the magical property of carbon fibre to impress small boys (although my older girls are similarly impressed). It also helps there's slightly more elbow room at the back which reduces the need to referee a punch up on the back seat.
The traction makes the power more usable. I still find auto mode weird as I find myself taking two bites at a tricky corner if I'm not sure what steering mode the car's selected. Comfort does what it says on the tin. The jury is out on dynamic although throwing the car into fast empty roundabouts is surprisingly fun given the size of this thing.
I still dislike MMI intensely. And for the love of God, how do I turn the goddam radio off so it doesn't automatically switch on every time I start the car? Can't find anything in the manual (War and Peace is an easier read).

How is the handling compared to the M5 Harris? I went from an F10 M5 to an A8 V8 but the handling would have to be massivley better in the S8 before I would consider it. The car appeals immensely otherwise.
Driving them on a public road makes the comparison not so clear cut, especially in the congested southeast. I know if I got them on a track, the M5 would be a hoot and the S8 would feel safe. The other thing is with only a few hundred miles under my belt, I haven't yet plucked up the courage to switch the ESP off. In the M5 I used to automatically reach for MDM whenever I started the car, unless it was raining.Handling is subjective. We can break it down into balance and progression, steering feel, accuracy/directness, grip, suppleness (which is not strictly a handling trait). That may help to clarify. I personally prefer a two tonne limousine to have a tendency to understeer - not everyone is the same.
Balance: no question the S8 feels more front heavy and this translates into understeer when provoking the car in a tight corner. In an odd way, it feels momentarily like a giant version of my integrale which is no bad thing. Not (obviously) the steering feel which is untouchable on the 'grale, but in the way chucking it hard at a corner and getting back on the throttle gets the front wheels to scrub and then all four wheels to grip and go. I must try that again with the ESP off and see how close that analogy really is. The Beemer is a lot more traditional front engine, rear wheel drive in the way it does its business and the throttle has to be treated more sensitively. It also makes the power less usable especially in the wet.
Steering feel: Audi 0 BMW 0. No score draw. The curse of modern cars. That said, there's this non-linearity I mentioned in the Audi which I'm struggling to understand so there's still a chance for an own goal. Jury's out. Accuracy/directness: the M5 has a slightly sharper helm (I don't personally thinks it's as extreme a difference as the journalists seem to imply, at least not on the road) but as I mentioned before the Audi's non-linearity sometimes makes me take two bites at a corner in the Audi. I may eventually learn to recognise this and adapt my driving.
Grip: the BMW came on MPSS, the Audi on Goodyear Eagles. Can't say I can tell the difference. Traction seems to be more of a differentiator than grip. In the depths of winter I was driving Miss Daisy in the M5, I think I can afford to be a bit less inhibited in the Audi.
Suppleness: along with traction I think this is the other plus point for the Audi. The M5 wasn't bad at all, but the Audi has a lovely suspension. It breathes with the road even on the moon craters of Surrey. A material difference in making progress.
Hope that helps.

It's annoying and I don't think you can switch it off in any way. I read manual from cover to cover. I keep empty Jukebox or whatever local drive is called in Audi and switch to it if I don't want any audio at start up. That's how I solved it. Otherwise I mute audio as first thing after engine start. My car has around 4200 miles on the clock now but still haven't taken it to Germany for a proper test drive. Also had about 3 scratches which I was able to polish out. I guess size is problematic for other people and they tend to open their door too wide or squeeze past the car. I didn't have this issue with previous, a bit smaller car.

Number of registered S8 in 2015 is finally published. Last quarter of 2015 - 99 new registration, that's more than total sale of S8 in 2014. Now they can say that sales has doubled ;-)

well quarter-on-quarter it has quadrupled, i am assuming... if sales were flat over 2014, which they probably were not... but Q4 is generally a quiet one so maybe it's more than quadrupled. That's the stat i'd use if i were Audi. I don't think they're doing it because of that though. Anyway there's a new A8 coming isn't there?http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/audi_s8_v8_tf...

Anyone seen a remotely good deal recently? Or anything similar? About the sieve through the lease thread/wiki.
the current deal is still live, it's just that you won't get a car registered in time before it ends. All cars need to be registered by end of Q2, and it's unlikely they'll run a parallel deal with a later end date. You probs won't see anything till July at the absolute earliest, but tbh it's prob gone for good now. It's not a volume car. Best thing you can do is loiter in the best lease deals thread and jump on something good when it comes up, rather than focus on a particular model. Good luck! Blown2CV said:

Any further progress on your order via the app?Mine is still sitting at order received. Im becoming increasingly impatient and beginning to ponder adding options / changing colour again!
Whats your spec choice if you don't mind me asking?
