How is the handling compared to the M5 Harris? I went from an F10 M5 to an A8 V8 but the handling would have to be massivley better in the S8 before I would consider it. The car appeals immensely otherwise.
I went from an F10 M5 to an S8 and 6 months in, still miss the M5 every time I drive the S8! Sure, it's a lovely place to be and it destroys long motorway journey (did 9 hours to Scotland recently and got out feeling as fresh as a daisy) but whereas the M5 could feel like a sports car in a saloon form, the S8 never feels anything other than a very fast limo.I like it and respect it, but will never love it, whereas I loved the M5 from the first drive until the last.
Up to 7/10ths it grips and handles well, but past that which is where the M5 came alive, it falls apart somewhat and starts feeling very big and understeery.

Since my S8 order fell through, i placed an order for a new M4 Competition Pack. Arrives in September. I like it and respect it, but will never love it, whereas I loved the M5 from the first drive until the last.

Looking forward to it!
One or a few phone calls won't cost a lot but may yield something. I made 15 calls last year and got a cheap S8, when broker run out of cars.
Orangewheels shows £23,148 discount from list price, so there might be some space for individual negotiation.

For promotional price yes, even though size can be a bit of inconvenience sometimes (small driveway) and I don't really need big car. I will also be happy to extend it for another year for the same money, however then I will pay another 50% extra for my options.
Can't think what other car I could get of similar comfort, equipment and power for 400pcm. But next few months or years could bring more cheap deals, when expensive cars are not selling. I will wait and see.

Sorry to anyone who clicks on this thinking the deals are on again (I would be one of them), but how are your S8s doing? Some of you must have had them over a year now? I'm going to see a friend next month who got his almost a year ago, although not at the price that started this thread, but still a goodie for the car!
My car is doing fine. 12K miles on the clock, two European weekend trips, 2K miles each. I topped up 0.5l of oil. Predicted oil service at around 17K miles according to car computer. I haven't decided where to take it for service. Someone recommended Coulsdon as it's big dealership.
After 9 months car developed rattle in driver's door by the vent. I'm a bit hesitant to book repair as I'm afraid it may result with more rattle and other issues when they try to fix this one.
I called VWFS yesterday and enquired about extra 10K miles, I'm waiting for a quote now. A lot of people wrote about getting half price excess miles from VWFS so I thought I will try too. I also asked about possible extension. You have to request before last 6 months of contract. It can be extended by 1 year, up to 4 years total. I'm considering it, since it's a great car for the money I'm paying and I'm not sure I will be able to bag similar deal on something else. I will wait until there's 7 months to go and ask for extension quote if there are not good deals for other cars.
I've only seen two or three S8s so far, but registered before the deal.

they are a beast... very quick indeed. Feels small in some ways but can't quite avoid feeling big in others (dynamically). Does feel premium, but if i'd paid £82k i'd be disappointed in some ways with the quality as it doesn't feel like it's made any better than an A4. Possibly kudos to the A4 rather than nightmare for the A8... i think i'd want to see noticeable materials uplift etc though. Technology feels a touch on the old side now, compared to the new cars coming out with full LCD dash etc. Standard kit not that great either... i mean it's good and everything but it doesn't really have much that a mid-range A6 wouldn't have. Also I really would have wanted a nice button to make the exhaust really fking loud. It's a v quiet experience in there, even in dynamic mode. That said, I do love it!
