I don't think that's good by any measure. The retail price comparison is not valid here because unlike most other cars which achieve good discounts, the A8 discounts are huuuuuge.
however the discounts would be reflected as a percentage of full retail so it makes no sense to do anything else.

Anyone know what sort of s8 deals are on offer at the moment? I'm off to my local dealer on Monday to discuss so a bit of research before hand is probably wise....
6+23 @559 + Vat from Stable.

https://www.stablevehiclecontracts.co.uk/audi-s8-l...

About 23% of £84K ROTR price.so definitely "good", but a long way off "insane"...
have you tried to see whether they could actually lay their hands on a car though? New A8 out soon.

I received formal extension quote for my car as I'm in last 6 months of the lease.

Last year, I bought extra 10K miles and my monthly in second year was £473.44.

New numbers are as follows:

12 months extension - total cost £6,819.48

Current Finance Payment £473.44
Number of Payments Received 24 months
Modified Finance Payment £568.29
Modified Agreement Start Date 01/12/2017
Modified Agreement End Date 30/11/2018
Modified Term 36 months
Current Agreement Mileage Allowance 20000 total miles
Modified Agreement Mileage Allowance 30000 total miles
Excess Mileage Charge 9.00 pence per mile

6 months extension - total cost £3,679.32

Current Finance Payment £473.44
Number of Payments Received 24 months
Modified Finance Payment £613.22
Modified Agreement Start Date 01/12/2017
Modified Agreement End Date 30/05/2018
Modified Term 30 months
Current Agreement Mileage Allowance 20000 total miles
Modified Agreement Mileage Allowance 25000 total miles
Excess Mileage Charge 9.00 pence per mile

I don't use Audi that often at the moment, as I drive SLK55 as well and it's a bit better for London commuting, so I'm not sure I will keep it. I already started looking at different cars, of course none of them will be S8 but they will be cheaper and more useful.

Have you enjoyed the S8 overall?

Except issue with wind noise on driver side, it's very good car. I have 6 more months of use and 5K miles to go. I tested some cars already and so far most of them seem to be too noisy inside after A8.

I'm thinking about getting something smaller, because A8 car takes almost whole space in the garage and I have to dance around it when I need lawnmower or something else.

Didn't use it for a month due to cracked windscreen. One small stone hit it, and it cracked next day. Getting replacement via insurance took ages, I wanted OEM screen and Autoglass had to order it from Audi and then I had to wait for an appointment, which is tomorrow. I hope it will go well and I can finally drive it.

What's your view of the slk55?

Thanks PP, very useful info!

Mine will be up for replacement in less than a year and I was just thinking today how much I will miss it. That moment a black AMG C63 Estate passed me on the road sounding like a NASCAR. Must be a sign, right?

I also like the new Alfa Quadrifoglio but the problem with cars I like is they are all a size category smaller than the S8 and I really value the peace I'm currently enjoying due to lack of back seat territorial disputes.

I'm going to test drive Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce 280PS tomorrow. It's much smaller car but I'm curious about it and considering venturing into non-German brands. Of course I will be listening for wind noise in the cabin.

Regarding SLK55, quite versatile car if you can live with 2 seats. Very efficient in traffic too. I will start commuting in S8 to London from next week, it's going to be fun.

Update. I'm starting to think, it will be difficult to get something nice for £6800 per year, so extension quote is not that bad. And I have service package for 3 years any way, so no additional servicing cost. Maybe set of tyres for £800 will be required.

Alfa Romeo Giulia felt very claustrophobic after A8. It was nice inside, very well specced but smallish. No go for me even if cheap.

I think you should stick to the 20,000 for the 3 years, that way you can call up later and get the extra 10,000 miles at the discounted rate. My current monthlies are £456/pm based on 10,000 pa (originally £390p/m based on 5k pa). I managed to extend my S8 for £380/pm for year 3. I did this by not requesting a millage extension, with 30,000 (over 36 months) they wanted £544/pm for the final year. It is cheaper to pay the £380p/m and pay the additional millage at 9ppm, however I am confident I can call up later and get it cheaper.

380pcm is a good price. When did you request the extension? I guess, I could request another quote without extra miles and then in couple of months, 6 months before end of the contract, request extra miles hoping to get them half price?

Let say they let me extend at £400 (I have some options on my car) without any extra miles, that's £4800 + £1080 for excess miles at full price, it's £5880. About £1000 cheaper than mu current quote. I would lock in at this price, because as I said earlier, I doubt I will get anything similar for that money.

do they have a rule as to how far in advance of the end of contract you need to agree any extension?

You can request extension quote when you're within last 6 months. They refused to quote me earlier. However I don't know what's the latest date to agree extension before end of the lease.

I tried tactic suggested by Thingybob and it didn't work. Got some ridiculous extension quote and asked VWFS to reconsider the numbers again.

Current Finance Payment £473.44
Number of Payments Received 24 months
Modified Finance Payment £1034.06
Modified Term 36 months
Current Agreement Mileage Allowance 20000 total miles
Modified Agreement Mileage Allowance 20000 total miles

I extended mine at the end of March, surely what they have quoted you must be an error?

I think the modified payment in that quote reflects the real market price without the upfront support from Audi for the original sale.

Audi car sales and Audi finance (VW Finance) are apparently run as very independent entities and Audi car sales make an upfront payment to Audi finance when the sale goes through.

That is part of the reason they don't mind if finance is redeemed early - from a finance perspective the car sales entity have paid them most of the profit on the deal.

of course they are run as independent entities - they are independent. The finance deals we see are subsidised by the manufacturer. Outside of that subsidy you just get market rates.

I'm waiting for reply to my comments from VWFS. If they can't come up with anything better I will just leave it as it is, and request another quote closer to the end of contract. I suspect there might be some cheap deals on expensive cars in next two quarters.

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. With GBP being so weak versus EUR, I am not entirely convinced we will see these great deals again for a while.

I never received reasonable offer from VWFS for leasing extension so decided I will be looking for something else. I got a deal for standard A8 3.0 TDI Black Edition, 10K miles pa, 6 + 23 x £399 = £11,571. Base spec car unfortunately, as other cars disappeared before I chased the dealer who offered it. I'm taking delivery on 30/09/2017 and cutting short S8 lease by 2 months.

Initially, I planned to wait out for best possible deals at the end of the year but A8 diesel deal was tempting enough. I know new model is out but I don't like touch screens and I don't expect deals on it any time soon. I will live with old model with physical buttons to press.

I did oil service at 17100 miles. Service advisor contacted VWFS before service and was told to replace spark plugs. I also asked to investigate opening boot manually when it's disabled in MMI and they said handle is broken and would require further investigation and replacement but due to long waiting time for available service dates, I gave up. I knew I will be returning car soon anyway. But it's a shame because it's second warranty repair I gave up on, due to hassle it would take to fix it. During my two encounters with service I didn't feel encouraged to own an Audi, lease yes, own rather not.

I just requested purchase prices, as I'm in last 3 months of contract and was given following amount: £41,975.00 (car first registered on 30/11/2015). So if anyone is interested in buying S8 with minimal options, feel free to send me a message. It's a bit cheaper than cheapest car on Autotrader. Spec and photos at the beginning of the thread. Car will have around 19500 miles by the end of the month.

Still enjoying mine. A very nice place to be when covering long distances & the new engine performs much better than even i expected, whilst still returning well over 40mpg on a motorway journey.
