Again that's not my experience of it. I've bought a plan when the first service has been due on a number of occasions.

Not true. Can be bought any time,

Right now from the comfort of the internet, if you like,

https://www.vwfs-service-plans.io/runtime/server/s...

I just ran a 2 year old Golf through it. £476.82 for next two services.
In fairness we are talking about Audis on here more than VWs. I think the only reference to VW between Blown2CV and myself is the term "VAG" when first referring to the plans.

Nope. I had one on a leased S8. I purchased from the fulfilling dealer. I think it does need to be done when the car is brand new but don't think it matters whether it's a lease or not.
Ok thanks I will keep that in mind for future.

True, Audi will do the same though.

Let's face it, why wouldn't they? Keeps cars in the dealer network workshops and gets a nice chunk of cash upfront.

well, i was told i could only buy it when the car was brand new. Maybe strong arming tactics by the dealer who knows.
Same here. Would only let me buy the fixed plan from new.

That said, at first they denied the plan was available for an S8. It turned out they were correct if it was a W12 but the exclusion didn't apply to the S8.

Thanks very much for the replies all. My car is not on lease and each of the dealers told me today that I can't take out a service plan on it, I just have to pay for each service on the day.

That said, does anyone actually have experience of paying a main dealer for an oil service on a recent S8 (mine is a 2016 model)?

Thanks again.
