The "royal we" have a late 62 plate GTD TDI Golf, bought in June 2014 for c£16k.

We traded an 08 plate, same car, for £7.5k at the time - so that was a 6yo car, about 48k miles iirc.

The missus has a bad back and doesn't get on with the MKVI which is a shame as it was bought with the intention of keeping it for years as we had the MKV before.

I can't give it away! This is a 3.5 year old car and the best offer I've had was 10,750.

So.. has the market dropped that much? I'm regretting hanging onto it now.. and buying it in the first place obviously.

Found something very similar late last year with a Golf GTD, 14 plate, 12k, offers were terrible, I don't think its the market as such, I think its the VW scandal!

I was offered 10500 for my 11 plate gtd last summer (would have had about 50k on the clock at the time)

This was at a garage that sell cheap but offer naff px so yours is probably about on the money really

This was also pre scandal.

If you bought it from a VW dealer you'll have paid at least a couple of £K dealer margin - so over a short time period that exaggerates your loss.

I think the lack of demand is the issue. I think i'll keep it and use it as my daily, keep the miles off my M2 and S2000 till this blows over.

I saw the news they are selling hardly any cars.. Crazy days

there was this last year

http://www.theguardian.com/business/2015/dec/04/vw...

then this more recently

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-35267164

That's against a backdrop of a record year of car sales.

From what i see, watching other cars for sale like mine, they are not moving at all

You didn't say a mileage, but 50K ones from dealers seem to be listed at about £13,500. So on that basis, it's only depreciated by about 15% in 18 months, which is bloody good.

But if you're selling one to a dealer, they'll need to prep it for sale, cover their costs, have some wiggle room to discount it AND make a profit at the end. I'd guess a dealer would offer £11,500 tops. What do WBAC say?

Have you tried advertising it privately?

What is it, a late Mk6 or early Mk7?

I'm suspecting the former, and if so the latter is the reason the price has taken a hit!
