Seems a no brainer as I'd only need to pay for 1 service rather than 2?
Absolutely, on a leased car. The only way it might be better on annual servicing is if you return it a bit early.

My friends black one on the left and my other friends grey one on the right. Both from the cheap lease deal. Really nice cars to have I think and especially for that price...
I thought they were both yours at first!

I hoped my luck had changed with the cheap Jeep Grand Cherokee deal (although the Alltrack was, percentage wise, still cheaper) but it turned out to be close to a scam.

Quickie. My engine cut off when stationary seems to have a mind of its own. Ok I should read the manual. But I haven't ever done this

So, is this a feature !

biggrin Button hidden to the left of the gearstick should stop that happening. The auto cutoff drives me nuts, especially when waiting at junctions to pull out. By the time the car has started the engine and put itself in gear I'm just in time to pull right out in front of a fking huge bus or truck. eek

Yes, I know that button, but it still appears to have a mind of its own. With it activated, when I stop the car does t always cut out and the symbol shows its de activated on the screen. Do t get why it does it. It's appears very random . Any thoughts ?

I was slightly baffled at first. The engine has to be warm enough for the auto cutout to start working. Also, your foot has to be on the brake pedal for the engine to cut out.

Alltrack manual arrived on Friday.. Really impressed. Drivers seat is great, allot better than the Golf R it replaces.

A couple of things I cant work out. How do you get the passenger mirror to dip when reversing? Also, on previous cars the interior lights only went out when the car was started, on the Alltrack they go out as soon as you close the door - can this be changed?

Cheers

I asked this a while back. Is the spec on the manual Alltrack any different than the DSG version?

Can't answer your questions unfortunately as I've not read the manual either, biggrin but I think my mirror dips. Press Car button on the screen and there are lots of setting in there.

On our Tiguan DSG I was surprised how soon after starting from cold it cuts in - we turn it off (I nearly always forget until first time it cuts out) but on a lease car I'd leave it on.

There's a bunch of conditions that have to be met - things like if there's too big a temp difference inside the between actual and set temp it'll keep the heating on, or, more likely at this time of year, the a/c running. I think (not sure though) if you have the a/c on lowest setting then it won't go off.

Also, at least on Tiguan, if you use auto-hold and you release the brake pedal quickly as you come to a halt you can beat the auto-stop as there's a 1 second delay and the engine stays running. I think on Alltrack the engine shuts off earlier - almost as you're coming to a halt though.

That's good to hear. I'm replacing my Golf R next month with the Alltrack and I have a bad back so seat comfort is really important to me.

Thanks - spec is the same. Read manual and still can't get it to work. Anybody?

Think I've discovered a bit of a glitch with the USB socket. It powers the tablet which uses micro USB, but it won't charge my 6P with USB-C.

Has anyone else tried this?

Edit: it was the cable.

Having a manual browse this evening. P142 states that passenger mirror dip option is only there if memory seats has been specified.

Maybe my mirror doesn't dip then? hehe

Part of me is wishing I'm gone for the manual - on my brief experiences of DSG previously we'd not really got along and having had the car about a month we still ain't.

Whist we're on the subject of first world problem - though going by some of the hysteria I'm reading on social media and in the press it may not be long until we are a third world country - anyone else got any niggling issues?

Mine niggles are:

1) the door does not have a mid way notch when opened, so for it to stay in place while you get out, there is either not enough space (I'm not a chubster) or the door has to be right open, which is useless in tight parking spaces.

2) That damned DSG box.

3) MPG is not as good as expected.

4) Sat nav traffic is useless - it suggest crazy short journey times and doesn't seem to choose a route even when it knows about traffic.

5) Hesitation, hesitation, hesitation - there seems to be a slight delay to everything - I think it is a combination of a diesel with a large turbo, the start stop and the DSG box - this is definitely not a car suited to urban commutes (other than the ride height), unless it's in sports mode with the autostop turned off, but that doesn't help the mpg.

6) Bright white headlining in an estate.

Things I love about it:

1) The ride and ride height - speed bumps no longer slow me down, and getting on and off the drive at my new house, where the pavement is not dropped along the whole width of the drive, is no longer a crawl

2) Massive boot - I had 250kgs of bagged gravel in the boot yesterday without having to put the seats down and there was plenty of space for more.

3) It is costing me peanuts.

4) Massive inside.

5) On a motorway journey it just goes without fuss - just on the ACC and all you have to do it steer - there is plenty of space in the footwell to put your feet.

- Agree actually.

2) That damned DSG box.

- I'm getting on with it very well.

3) MPG is not as good as expected.

- I got 44 out of my first tank. Engine is tight, would expect it to loosen up a bit and improve.

4) Sat nav traffic is useless - it suggest crazy short journey times and doesn't seem to choose a route even when it knows about traffic.

- Yes agree. Routing is fine but the journey time is unrealistic, which is a bit crap. Android auto would sort that out with google maps though, hmmm.

- I'm learning to drive around it. Touching accelerator a bit early to start the engine, learning how much you have to push the accelerator to get decent progress, using the paddle to downshift a gear or two on roundabout/corner entry, instead of waiting for the car to shift on roundabout exit.

6) Bright white headlining in an estate.

- Huh? What's wrong with that?

Things I love about it:

1) The ride and ride height - speed bumps no longer slow me down, and getting on and off the drive at my new house, where the pavement is not dropped along the whole width of the drive, is no longer a crawl

- Ride quality is excellent, and it also seems to go around corners very well. I'm very pleased with the ride/handling balance.

2) Massive boot - I had 250kgs of bagged gravel in the boot yesterday without having to put the seats down and there was plenty of space for more.

- Yup.

3) It is costing me peanuts.

- Oh yes indeed.

4) Massive inside.

- Aye.

5) On a motorway journey it just goes without fuss - just on the ACC and all you have to do it steer - there is plenty of space in the footwell to put your feet.

- ACC annoys me actually, even in the close setting the gap is too large for busy commutes. It's great in less busy traffic though. Although I do find I have to get into the overtake position much earlier than I'm used to in order for it not to engage and start slowing the car down.

Other positive things to add:

- I do like the modern tech in the car, it generally all works really well, touchscreen menus etc.

- Seats are very comfortable with all the adjustment you need.

- Curry hooks in the boot - awesome.

Negative:

- Don't like that the DRLs are the fog lights. I look like a FLW now.

I'm sure it will - it does in our old platform Tiguan. I don't find it that useful as it's not often I'm parking against the kerb (and the Tiguan will park itself anyway) - for other reversing manoeuvres you don't want the mirror to dip so you have to keep twiddling the switch.

No idea if the set-up is the same in Alltrack though.

Gets dirty very quickly if you fill the boot with crap and catch it.

Agree, ACC depends on how heavy the traffic is, I have played with ACC in start stop traffic, and it sort of works if you turn Autostop off - seems to depend how long you have been stationary for and can be very slow to react or you need to press the restore button a few times or give the throttle a prod - still not sure exactly how it should work.

Agree curry hooks are awesome. Seat are good. Playing music from my iPhone via either bluetooth or through the USB connector has been a bit problematic - on USB it always starts from the first song within Apple Music based on the alphabet, not the last track played - via bluetooth it starts most times on the last track I played on Apple Music, but for a while it went nuts and would only start playing from the phone. Tis ok now.

What is FLW? Fog Light Self Lover?

Anyone took their Alltrack "offroad" yet? How did you get on?

I've taken around some wet grassy fields with an odd boggy patch and it was fine. Didn't come even close to getting stuck and ground clearance was more than enough. Was actually quite fun, offroad mode worked well.
