I've only seen one other Alltrack in Northern Ireland in the 9 months or so I've had mine.

Is anyone else getting admiring glances from others? I've noticed it quite a lot - some people creaking there neck to get a look at it. I guess its partly because you don't see very many and party because, its a pretty nice looking car on the move too.

I'm closing in on 6k ish miles now I think, and I've got the ad blue warning now so will need to sort that pretty soon. 10 miles to the nearest VW dealer so I'll probably do that.

Looking at the tyres, my contract is 16k and I'll probably come in just around that number. Has anyone thought of rotating the spare wheel around so that you can use its tread too. Effectively, if we use the spare wheel and rotate a used wheel each time, we'll get a 25% boost in tyre wear lol. I drive mine pretty hard at times and I'm not sure I'll get 16k out of them. I was going to rotate front to back at 8k but now I'm thinking of putting the spare wheel into the mix - it is a full size wheel and alloy after all.

I've only seen one other Alltrack, and it was near Leeds Bradford Airport on the way to catch a flight. The other guy nearly broke his neck as I wizzed by the other way They are definitely a rare car.

Good shout on the spare. Can't think of many cars now that still get a full sized alloy as a spare. I think instead of constantly rotating the 5th wheel, I'll just change the fronts at 2-2.5 mm, and keep one as the spare. That way a new set of fronts will only cost the price of 1 tyre All at the expense of about 0.5mm on one tyre

I have seen a few around Manchester - there must be loads about with the cheap lease deal being so popular, but I can't see the selling many at the normal price.

Nice idea with replacing just one tyre at the front. Keep the rears on all the time (should get plenty of miles from the rears no problem) and then stick the spare on the front along with 1 new tyre and that way, you've always got the same tread depth across each axle. I think this is what I'll do.

Why not just replace front to back half way through the front tyre wear - that way you may get away without needing any tyre, but can still use the spare with a new one if required - I kerbed the passenger side front like a numpty, so the spare will go on at the end whatever.

Not a chance I'll get to 20k without replacing a couple of tyres, even rotating.

This way It'll only cost me 1 tyre instead of 2

I've just ordered 4x Kumho Ecsta KU39 for £396 fitted locally from blackcircles. Seemed like the best value I could find. The Avon ZZ5 came 2nd, they were around £10 extra per corner.

You just read my mind. I was wondering how much replacements were. I had those Kumho Ecsta on my last car to replace the runflats, a 2007 BMW 325i Coupe, good grip and reasonable wear, though I went through quite a few thanks to irreparable punctures, but mine were like rubber bands on 19" alloys and about 3 foot wide! Hopefully the bouncier tyres on the VW will fair better.

New tyres are on and I can't tell any difference whatsoever compared to the continental tyres. Perhaps marginally more road noise if I were to be picky.

I took the old tyres back with me (3 in the boot and one on the rear seats between the kids) and they had more tread than I thought (5mm on the rear and 3/4mm on the front). Having increased my mileage to 20k, I'm pretty sure I won't need to get any extra tyres during the agreement. £396 over 24 months works out about an extra £16.50 per month which isn't too bad! Hopefully I'll just need a service and no further expense.

So you plan to put the original tyres back on before you give it back?


ETA - changed as I'm a numpty and meant give it back not sell.

Yes that's the plan. This avoids any issues around the correct brand/premium tyres etc.

Have just sent back my amended lease agreement that increases my mileage allowance from 5k miles pa to 10k pa.

VWFS asked me for a further £19.98 per month for the remaining 15 months and a £60 admin fee. Total £359.70. If I had left it until the end of the lease the additional 10k miles would have cost £720 (7.2p per mile). So, half the price is a complete no brainer bearing in mind I will most likely do close to 20k across the 2 years. Also means the cost is absorbed monthly rather than finding a lump sum at agreement end.

There are many reports on the hotukdeals thread of other leaseholders doing the same. Haven't seen anyone give details of a quote for an even higher mileage increase but guess it could potentially be an even bigger saving.

Apparently you cannot ask to increase the mileage during the first six or last six months of the agreement.

I believe you can request a mileage increase over the phone. I requested mine online having registered my agreement on the VWFS website. They will ask for your agreement details, current actual mileage and your new mileage request.

It's a bit early is it not? Mine started in May last year for 2 years - I assume you'd have to ask closer to the end of the lease?

I asked and told you can't do this until less than 6 months to go on the lease

Doh. I meant send it back, not sell.

My allowance is 5k PA mileage but I am expecting to do 8k at the moment. I think being careful I may be able to avoid putting tyres on before 16k/2 years. I need to see where I am in May when a year is up and then swap them back to front depending on the wear.

Managed to add an extra 20k to my mileage for £654 as opposed to the £1,440 it would have cost at the end of the contract. Pretty happy with that... and with the car for that matter, despite its few niggles and that gearbox.

Which number did you ring & who did you speak to for this pls?

Need to add 10k onto my contract, & thos prices are good
