If it's the same poster - they clarified later that they'd chosen metallic when they initially ordered.anyone else managed or tried lately?

Looking at a few posts on there, people seem pretty happy with the look of Urano Grey in the flesh.
I'm confused as to the main lighting on the car I have to be honest.
If you go to http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/new/passat-estate-viii...
Then click > What's Included > Full Specification, scroll down and we get to:
- Front fog lights
- Gloss black pillar trim
- Headlight washers
- Heat insulating, tinted glass from B pillar backwards - 65%
- LED Premium Headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights and dynamic cornering light
- Loading edge protection in plastic
- Rear number plate lights incorporating LED technology
However if we go to configure the car, we can see the following:
- LED headlights £720
- LED premium headlights with dynamic cornering £1220
So I presume the Full standard specification is wrong, and the options list is right.
I presume we have to live with stty halogens. Anyone got one yet and comment on the lights? Maybe some pics of a standard one?

See page 3/4. I think the poster's car was the 150bhp, and I think I might have read somewhere that the more powerful car had different lights, but it could have been the 240bhp version I think the German / Australian market gets.
Really like the drls on the led lights, but it's silly money for the upgrade.

3 to 4 weeks apparently.
Seen a few Urano B8s on the roads this week. They look good imo.
Typo edit.
I agree, I've seen a couple myself in estate and saloon variant and they look very smart. As I've said before, the only thing that grates me is how it will look against the protective trim which surrounds the car. This is what separates the alltrack from the regular estate but it will probably just blend in with the Urano Grey and make it look a bit like the regular estate. Still smart looking though. A couple of guys in work have the DSG gearbox and are saying good things about it. I'm coming from a ZF gearbox so will be interesting to see how it compares.

Still waiting for a build week to be confirmed by the factory.
Impatience and anticipation are getting the better of me...
I'm ok with the wait as I will be sad to see my old car go. An 07 Jaguar S Type which I've had for 2.5 years and just over 80k on it so still only a pup in that regard. No good for practicality though so the Alltrack is perfect for my young family needs but I will still miss my old car. The one positive I can take from it is that I only paid £5k for it and the same spec car is selling on Autotrader now for about £7-£7.5k - so if I can get a good price for it, and add in this stonking alltrack deal, that'll be about 4.5 years motoring for a total cost of around £2k - or about £37 a month - my mobile phone contract costs me more lol Impatience and anticipation are getting the better of me...
I'll be offloading a Volvo V70 to make way for the Passat. If I look at the Ovlov through rose tinted spectacles, I'll miss it in the sense it's a car you don't need to worry about. We can just chuck anything in it - wardrobes, compost, dribbling toddlers ....and not care about getting a scratch on it. It's also bloody comfy and has the best stereo I've ever had, but it's leggy and handles like a canal boat, so the arrival of the new battleship grey family wagon is keenly anticipated.
Fairly good offers on the 2.0 TDi DSG GT Estate at the mo:

With a build date confirmed and eagerly awaiting mid May delivery, my thoughts turn to the boring stuff such as:
Servicing - I will need the service plan changing to long life which is time or mileage based (I will do 30,000 in two years). How do I get them to set this up?
Insurance - will I get the five/seven days drive away insurance (presume I have to talk directly to the supplying dealer?)
Thanks all.

Tends to be a waste as you're insurance is anual - end up handing car back with a policy that has a weeks insurance left at the back end. Can't use no claims, and more expensive to change car than policy is worth due to admin fee!Servicing - I will need the service plan changing to long life which is time or mileage based (I will do 30,000 in two years). It's offered through VWFS so it may be available, although the blurb talks about "buying" a new or used VW. We used it on our Tiguan on a PCP. It's 5 days now.
Re servicing - all VWs arrive at the dealer set to flexible servicing and are left like that for leased cars. For retail customers they're normally changed to fixed interval time/distance (12mths/10K miles) at PDI.
Most retail customers take the basic VW servicing plans which are usually discounted or free (our was 2 services for £149) and those plans require the car to be on the fixed interval schedule.
On our Tiquan they didn't change it so it shows the service interval at something like 18000 miles / 2yrs but it'll still need to go in at 12mths due to the service plan and I guess they'll reset the schedule it's on then.

Strange reply. It's very handy if you're not disposing of your existing car immediately.

I was looking at it from a point of view of taking out a new policy, rather than changing the vehicle on your existing policy, which is what I tend to do. I try to keep it so that I get a new policy at the same time as I change car - tend to get a poor quote when you change car half way through a policy.

I will have the added complication of trying to sell my existing car (VW CC DSG anyone?) which will mean I will have to get interim insurance, hence the question. Most likely I will put them both on multicar with my wife's car but then I'll have to take one off when I sell it so I'll have to pay for the admin fee. Just another admin problem that I was trying to overcome.

Most if not all car insurance policies I've had will insure 2 cars at the same time to allow 1 car to be sold in a few weeks.Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
