A bit of a random thought....

With all us cheapskates going for the free Urano Grey,
which then merges into the body kit, some people have unsuccessfully tried changing the colour with VW and others have suggested wrapping the car.

How about this for possibly a really really terrible idea?

Wrapping the body kit in a contrasting colour?

Not sure what colour to suggest or how it would look though.

And no, I've not been drinking........

though I'm going to start soon. smile

The colour looks much better in the flesh to be fair. It does show up swirls in the sunlight due to how flat it is, but it hides the dirt and does look good when cleaned and waxed. Dealership (who have been a nightmare) made a real mess of the prep, but I gave it a bit of a detail yesterday and I'm pleased with it.

Took a quick vid of it - https://youtu.be/wJamgXLHLmo

It's pretty crap, I'll try and take a decent one tonight, but it gives an idea of the colour

Dealer was benfield / lookers Newcastle. They seemed to expect an understanding that we both knew I was getting a cracking deal, therefore I need not expect any kind of service reserved for customers they are making a few quid from

Good videos there thumbup

Really like the colour. Interesting to hear about swirls, mine is coming from the same dealer, might ask them not to polish it.

I don't know how it works, but it's hard to imagine they make much from leasing anyway - they probably get little more than a handling charge and perhaps it counts towards their volume of sales so gets them rebates/bonuses etc.

They'll have known the deal was an error so they could have refused orders if they'd wanted to.

My dealer has been great, I expect I've been treated exactly the same as any other customer. They have kept me up to date and been on top of everything. They did say they couldn't believe the price I paid and worked out the car was discounted by over 36%.

I'd drop an email to Volkswagen UK, not sure I'd appreciate being treated like a 2nd class citizen regardless of how much I had paid

Customer service just varies in life, I doubt this has anything to do with the price of the vehicle.
Don't chew over it, just move on and enjoy the car.

ps. mine has now arrived at the dealer, now awaiting the final finance docs to be sent over. Maybe delivery next week if I'm lucky? That would be 8 weeks from order to delivery - quite impressive.

Who is your dealer? I've had no contact whatsoever from mine (Sinclair Cardiff) and when approached they seemed fairly disinterested and pointed me back to the broker.

Mine's being built next week so hopefully once it arrives at the dealer they may acknowledge my existence.

Just got my details through to sign so my car must be arriving pretty soon (tracker still showing in transit)

It says registration date as 18th May. Does this mean that I hand the car back on 18th May 2018 or does the 2 years start from the day I collect the car?

Mine is beadles in dartford. They have been really good but I did order through them rather than a broker.

Also for anyone looking at the tracker, I found it to be very inaccurate. The 4 weeks it originally claimed took less than 10 days in the end. My car was at the dealer last week and if I pushed I'm sure they would have got it ready last weekend. However, I collect it Saturday. My 3 year old is very excited smile

Thanks for those vids - I'm even more excited now.

Is yours a completely standard spec? If so I wasn't expecting retracting mirrors. Also, do you have car net app connect (or whatever it is called) enabled which works with your Iphone (Apple CarPlay) or your android phone (Android auto)? It was an option on the configurator, but I have heard that some VWs turn up with it enabled even when not ordered.

+1. I also noticed park pilot in the video which I'm sure was a £200 option that I couldn't add. Would be nice if its a freebie

Folding mirrors, with little puddle lights underneath, and selectable dipping nearside mirror in reverse, are standard.

The optical parking display is standard. I was miffed not to get a camera on our Tiguan but the optical thing is brilliant. Auto-park (or whatever it's called) is the £200 option. We have it on our Tiguan (oddly standard on that, when it didn't have folding mirrors or even basic cruise), and it is amazing in use, but it's too much faffing around to use when there's other traffic about.

One thing not mentioned is the car in the video seems to have push-button start, therefore must have keyless entry - that's not standard.

My Passat R-Line (standard spec - no options ordered) has push-button start, but with a standard three button "click to lock/unlock" key fob.
