One thing not mentioned is the car in the video seems to have push-button start, therefore must have keyless entry - that's not standard.
My Passat R-Line (standard spec - no options ordered) has push-button start, but with a standard three button "click to lock/unlock" key fob.jingars said:

Ah - fair enough. So it's sort of keyless go, rather than keyless entry.I thought the two things went together. The very last of old model Tiguan's got push button start and no-one seemed sure if the doors would be keyless too, but they are.
ETA: You're not talking about the thing where you push the key-fob in to start, are you? If you've got a separate button on the console then I'd have expected the car to have "keyless" (fobless makes more sense) entry. Have you ever tried? It's not that obvious - indeed some people find it tricky to use.
Maybe VW changed it to stop former BMW drivers getting confused.

Key "anywhere about your person" works - blip the car open with the key from a few feet away, put key in pocket, jump in and press the start button with foot on the footbrake.
Have a look at this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwMvPHQAaDAMy car is apparently ten days from the dealer (Crewe), can't wait get it.
Can anyone confirm if it has front heated seats? Reason I ask is the GT spec has them and I was under the impression that Alltrack was identical in spec with a few offroady additions. Also a few reviews mention them when talking about the standard comfort seats.

Have just been out to the car and sadly it doesn't work for me - and no "dimple" on the handle, either.jingars said:

How strange. The options list makes a feature of push button start being part of the keyless entry option. Is your car very recent? The "press and drive key", where you push the fob into the ignition switch to start the car, is still shown on the website.

Had a VW UK loan Passat estate 150 Business whilst waiting for mine to be built and shipped, which had the same key system; click to access and press to start. Picked this R-Line up the week before Christmas with 8 miles on the clock.
Seems they changed some time ago from "push key-fob in slot to start" to simply "push button to start". Didn't know that - sorry for the bum steer.Sheepshanks said:

I preferred the good old days when they gave you a convenient place to slot the key so you didn't lose it.
It does seem particularly daft to have push button start without keyless entry as you've got to get the keys out to open the car, then put them somewhere. Hence my surprise.Sheepshanks said:

Hence my surprise.Current 2007 BMW: Press key fob to open car. Get in car. Push the key fob in the slot, then press button to start. Drive to destination.Try to take key out. Key doesn't come out. Whoops. Press button to stop. Take key fob out. Get out of car. Press key fob to lock.
New Passat: Press key fob to open car. Get in car. Put the key somewhere it isn't going to be flying around the cabin or get in the way. Press button to start. Drive to destination. Press button to stop. Get out of car. Get back into car to find key. Look for key. Get out of car. Press button to lock car.
Not really seeing the improvement here.

Just press the unlock button without taking key out of your pocket.
Getting into a bit too much detail here, but...Thing is, my key/fob will be in a bunch of a load of other keys which would be a bit uncomfortable in my pocket sat in the car. I like somewhere for it to dangle. Oo-er missus.
I'm sure I will cope.

Has anyone gone for GAP insurance on one of these? Do you need it? How much cover? Struggling to get my head around it, probably because I've never put a new car on finance before.
Yes I sorted mine out today for collection tomorrow. Cheapest I could find was motorpocket at £63 for 10k of GAP cover.Picked mine up today, thought there might be some interested in some pictures.
Very impressed with the car, the infotainment and integration of the sat nav is fantastic. Not sure if the sat nav compares to a tom tom or google maps via my phone though. The DSG box is very smooth, not sure why you would ever need the paddles or sequential shift via the stick though. I found the box is a bit slow when pulling away from junctions in normal mode and the stop/start is very aggressive switching the engine off whenever you stop. This is my first auto box and I've had start/stop on other cars but with a manual instead.
Fantastic value for money, not sure what I'll do when the 2 years are up! Happy to answer any questions.
