This YouTube vid shows how to set it up - if you have the option.

Not present on my vanilla-spec R Line estate; as hornetrider has posted, this option seems to be available only with the seat upgrade.
I know it says about memory seats in the handbook, but have you tried it? It works on our Tiguan, which is the old platform and doesn't have memory seats (they're not even an option on new Tiguan).

I remember it being quite a faff to set up - you have to follow the steps exactly, starting from outside the car, with the car locked. Once done, the mirror selector has to be left in L position for it to work - you can't move it L after reverse has been selected.

I've tried it in my car and I do not have the same menu options as shown in the video.

Really enjoying the car but the sat nav is starting to grate to the point of me thinking did they do any usability testing at all wrt to postcode entry. Allow me a mild rant.

Click on satnav, then new destination, then click city. Then postcode. So far so normal.

At which point it brings up a numeric keypad... why!!! So you have to then click to change to qwerty, then enter two letters, then switch back to numbers, then enter numbers, BUT THEN YOU NEED TO PUT IN A SPACE AND THERE ISN'T ONE ON THE NUMBER PAD, so flick back to qwerty keyboard, then enter a space, then back to numbers, enter the numbers, then back to qwerty, then enter the final letters.

What a fking ballache. Why isn't there just one keyboard with numbers and letters ffs.

I used the car a 400 mile round trip over the weekend, and the Sat Nav is not impressive. Compared to Apple Maps and Google Maps on my iPhone - I tried them on my iphone at the same time as the car nav - while Apple Maps and Google Maps did a great and accurate job, the VW nav estimated the journey would be 20 mins quicker and was warning me about traffic on both journeys that did not exist.

It does strengthen the argument for investing in the Appconnect activation, even at £215, or I just carry on ignoring the car nav and rest my iphone behind the gearstick with the audio set to Bluetooth and use Apple Music for the choons.

Agreed. Looks like it's been developed by an IT geek who's never used sat nav himself.
1 day of benchmarking against Tomtom would show them so much to learn from.
Oh well.
Keep thinking about the £140 deal and be happy smile

The input and route planning reminds me of how TomToms were when they first came out over 10 years ago - I'd be pissed off if I'd paid for Nav as an option, though there was a point yesterday when I needed to program a stop and I couldn't do on my Iphone as I has no data coverage. At least it's there if we really need it - I would not rely on it to get me to a meeting on time, but I know I would get there eventually.

For £125 as a factory order, I would definitely recommend the App Connect option for anyone ordering a new VW/SEAT/Skoda/Audi/Lambo/Bugatti if it isn't standard spec.

It does seem to say in the spec highlights online that it had parking mirror dip, although it mentions about having the winter pack, which it then doesn't list as an option. Mind you I was looking at the Golf R estate currently being talked about on the lease thread and it lists that it has halogen headlights and HID's.

I would be genuinely amazed if it's not possible.

The people who pay something like £1300 extra for the Pro version must be very hacked off. Mind you, at least they get AppConnect.

On the upside, has anyone noticed the distinct lack of torque steer? Been a while since I've had FWD but the last time was an Alfa which was pretty poor in that respect.

You are aware that the Alltrack is 4WD? confused

ETA: I was talking about the yellow highlights with the flat grey.

Anyone had a call from an 01202 628700 number?

I had a few calls from it today but the line was dead when I answered - google suggests it may be about some VW insurance policy management thingy?

It's only 4wd in traction loss situations. I'm talking about general handling and application of power in corners, around roundabouts etc where the car is effectively FWD.

Regardless, even in 4WD, power is transferred through the front wheels, which can result in torque steer.

My (limited) understanding of modern Haldex, which I assume is what the Alltrack has, is that it will send torque/power to the rear if the throttle is floored before any slip is generated - the electronics are very clever. I couldn't find any definite answer when I googled, so I could be wrong - I've had some Mk1 TT 225bhp Quattros that I drove hard and while they would have had a 15 year old version of Haldex, I don't remember Torque steer being an issue.

Only under moderate driving does the car operate as a 'normal' FWD car.

The later generations of Haldex have many sensors other than those to predict wheel slip, using inputs from steering, throttle, speed etc.

Haldex is now programmed with pre-emptive scenarios to prevent wheel spin before it happens, i.e. During standing starts Haldex will send most of the torque to the rear wheels, or when under hard acceleration when moving.

Steering direction will also affect torque distribution.

Torque steer is pretty much eliminated on Haldex equipped cars now.

I currently have a Golf 7R and don't ever get it. So I'm not expecting in on the Alltrack when it arrives wink

There is a significant increase in the number of new Alltracks for sale on Autotrader with delivery mileage and/or pre-registered. Starting from around £27k, some with extras, but surprisingly none in Urano grey. I wonder if there was also a dealer offer running at the same time?

My guess would be that the dealers got a bonus if they managed to "sell" a set quantity of Alltracks

At 190bhp I would not say the Alltrack is under powered - there is a delay to everything it does though - pulling out of a junction or roundabout into busy traffic takes a leap of faith, so you do end up driving around it.
In the standard 'eco' mode my car often pulls away in 2nd, which if the gap is small can be a bit too exciting.

I find I have to turn off the start stop and stick it in sport mode for entering busy roundabouts, otherwise you're dicing with death. Much of the time it feels pretty sluggish in normal mode. Mine is averaging 39mpg which is a long way from the claimed figure. Moan, whinge, moan, first world problems. Still very happy with it for the money!
