Just thought Id share some ad blue insight for those new to it, I've done 60k in an A5 Ultra so have had many experiences including running it down to zero!

1) I made several attempts to fill at a normal filler where the trucks go as I've got a company fuel card, the nozzle goes in but the cars don't have the magnetic thingy in the collar to move the ball bearing so it just clicks and clicks until you give up or get a small amount in - this is the cheapest option if you've got patience and the lorry driver behind doesn't mind!!
2) next best option is the 10 litre tubs you but from service stations, they come with a filler and you can do at home, a fair amount goes go down the car, its like PVA glue after, you have to peel it off!
3) Audi normally do it on a service for me but recently went down to zero so drove there and left it ticking over outside the showroom door and asked someone to sort it (4pm Friday :-( ) they did with the method mentioned above and charged the lease company a reasonable amount, not the rip off I've heard being quoted on other sites for dealer fills.
4) when you run low you HAVE to fill with more than about 8 litres, the day mine was zero, when it was on 5 miles, I dashed into Halfords and got ripped off to the tune of £20 for a 5 litre emergency bottle, it didn't recognise it hence the dealer visit straight after.
5) A fill normally last me 7k miles.

Can you use your own magnet?! biggrin

Might be useful for some of you, can confirm below 100 miles remaining that loud beep goes of every 5 miles grrrr

My bottles of adblue arrived yesterday. £38 for 40 litres, including spout, delivered to my door. They are huge, I hadn't quite thought how big a 20l container would be hehe

I'll fill it up later and let you know how it goes... how exciting!

Just to add. After refilling, turn the ignition on (not engine start), leave for up to 30s and car will recalibrate the 'miles to empty'

Ta - I'd missed that even though I quoted it in the response.

Any thoughts on this adblue? Seems too cheap. Any risk of problems if it's dodgy?

Are you able to collect it? Or buy a lot to get free delivery?

Looks like they are in Littlehampton, so too far for me. Delivery is another £7 so I'll order the one off ebay posted a page or two back.

Some TPS's won't deal with the public but if you just want to pick some up you could see if there's a TPS near you: https://tps.trade/centre-finder . I get my Ad Blue from the one in Chester - they do 5, 10 & 20L containers and it works out about £1/litre. I also get the super-duper VW premium fanjet screenwash while I'm there.

Our Tiguan has the filler in the boot floor so I bought the hose too from TPS for about £7 but it's a faff to use - it doesn't seal well on the container and it's slow. A funnel would be easier as long as you were careful not to overfill. If the filler on Alltrack is under the fuel flap then just be prepared to wash away any spillage.

I noticed that the BP at Trowell services sold Adblue at the pump, so I popped in on my way home expecting them not to authorise the pump due to it being on the HGV forecourt, but all was good. A slightly smaller nozzle fitted nicely in the filler with no adapter needed and 15 litres at 85ppl makes it almost reasonable at £12 every 5000 miles.

85ppl is a total bargain, good darts. Filling mine was OK but not the easiest as you'd be surprised how heavy 20kgs is when you're trying to top it up at filler cap level hehe

Still, all done no dramas or spillage.

In other news, towed the caravan about 120m on Friday on a mix of Mway, A and B roads. Pleased to report the car tows with aplomb. Rock solid 70mph cruise, no weave, no drama. All wheel drive a plus on slippery wet grass on the campsite.

The car is really getting under my skin. Almost everything about it is positive, the only downer is the throttle response which is a product of modern diesel engines I guess. Oh and the timer on the nav.

It certainly has me searching for similar type cars for when the lease is up.

Currently thinking about:

Audi A6 Avant 3l TDI Quattro 14-
Audi Allroad 14-
Passat 4mo BiTDi 16-
Superb 2.0TSi Estate 4x4 15- (left field)

Liking the Superb as presumably has the same chassis set up with 4mo and DSG but instead has the 280bhp 2 litre petrol turbo VAG lump from a Seat Cupra. Receives great reviews and would solve the only real issue with the car for me, the dag dag up front.

Couple of questions.

1) How to activate Child Door locks
2) How to check total miles driven. Only seem to notice it when I turn engine off.( I think I must have reset my 'long term data')

overall very happy motoring

1. If you remove the key from the fob you can use it on the recessed screw head visible on the door when it's open.

2. Turn off the ACC or the speed limiter and the odo will appear in the bottom left corner of the central display in the instrument cluster.

Towed with mine last weekend too and very impressed with the stability, although I struggled to get the nose weight down to 90kgs on our caravan...

Also wondering what on earth to replace it with, assuming the offer to buy it is crap.
Superb and Passat BiTDI both on my list, the latter got a towcar award IIRC...Disco 4s seem to be frighteningly expensive used, even with lots of miles. I've got too used to having a brand new car too, so amhoping there'll be another silly cheap lease at exactly the right time....

In 3.5 years of towing our van I've never measured the noseweight hehe

Scandalous. You could be thrown out of the Caravan Club for that kind of misdemeanour.
