Anyone else asked for more miles price yet ? I have just asked for another 10k, see what they come back with
Have just sent back my amended lease agreement that increases my mileage allowance from 5k miles pa to 10k pa.

VWFS asked me for a further £19.98 per month for the remaining 15 months and a £60 admin fee. Total £359.70. If I had left it until the end of the lease the additional 10k miles would have cost £720 (7.2p per mile). So, half the price is a complete no brainer bearing in mind I will most likely do close to 20k across the 2 years. Also means the cost is absorbed monthly rather than finding a lump sum at agreement end.

There are many reports on the hotukdeals thread of other leaseholders doing the same. Haven't seen anyone give details of a quote for an even higher mileage increase but guess it could potentially be an even bigger saving.

Apparently you cannot ask to increase the mileage during the first six or last six months of the agreement.

I believe you can request a mileage increase over the phone. I requested mine online having registered my agreement on the VWFS website. They will ask for your agreement details, current actual mileage and your new mileage request.

Has anyone noticed whether the DRLs turn on and off with the steering wheel angle?

Sounds a strange question, but this Sunday I met a newish Golf R coming towards me on a single track lane, and he reversed. He took forever and was all over the place, but I noticed that his DRLs were turning on and off depending on his steering angle.

Do our Alltracks do this? I noticed one of mine was out on Saturday night when the car was parked up with the steering at an angle - I meant to check it out but forgot - watching The Grand Tour just reminded me.

We have "Static Cornering Lights". This is what he manual says:

Static cornering light
When cornering slowly or travelling around very tight bends, a static cornering light is switched on automatically. The static cornering light is integrated into either the fog light or the front headlight, and only lights up at speeds below approximately 40 km/h (25 mph).

When reverse gear is engaged, the static cornering light on both sides of the vehicle may switch on to provide better illumination of the area when manoeuvring.

Cheers. I really should try reading the manual some time. smile

I'm thought my DRLs are on all the time too - so are these the same lights? confused

I believe the cornering lights are separate bulbs in the same cluster as the Fogs and DRLs

Yes we do have those wky cornering lights. I see them in my neighbours window reflection when I'm reversing onto our drive.

I'm going to add another gripe. It pisses me off that if you twiddle the climate temperature dial too fast it doesn't register any change.

I have gone through a set of the front tyres in just 6k miles. Anyone else experiencing unusually high tyre wear? Surely decent Continental tyres should last longer than 6k?

We don't drive the car like it's a race car, I have put the car in sport mode twice. It's left in the standard mode 99.9999% of the time. I just don't understand what's causing this. It means I'll be going through 2 more sets of tyres by the time it goes back.

That sounds expensive, gratefully I'm doing a bit better:

Trivial update.
Car has done 12k now. Front tyres down to 4-5mm and rears 6-7mm. So I've swapped them around.
Hoping to now do another 10k before replacing the lot. With some luck that will be it before returning the car in May 2018.

Possible tracking issue? I drive mine fairly aggressively from time to time, have done 14k and there's plenty of life left in them.

I looked at mine yesterday as I checked the pressures - plenty of tread left at almost 6k miles. Fronts are definitely wearing more than the front so I will check the depth and probably swap them over soon.

Yeah I know it is sad. But I've tried to get the closest model to every car I've owned. It's not an alltrack but the colour is correct....

I bought this and it was waiting for me when I got home.

hehe Doh! I get it now - I thought you were showing what a bargain I'd got as those links to the current model are much more expensive. I was being a bit (very) slow. I was sent the ebay link by a friend and I clicked to buy it without looking properly.

He is a model collector and has said he will take over the lease from me....... smile

If ours is a B8, does that mean there have been 8 versions of the Passat?

It was more an exclamation of surprise than a question. And I still don't know the answer as your Spoiler is blocked by the corp firewall.....
